‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ and ‘The Twilight Series- New Moon’: Bonanza for Audience!

Even years after his demise, Roald Dahl continues to be counted as among the most widely read and loved authors of children’s books.

And one of his all time children’s classics, recently adapted for the big screen, seems to have worked its old magic on the kids and critics alike!

Generations of readers, spanning decades have grown up reading ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’, one of the most enduring children’s classics from Roald Dahl’s stable and now the movie adaptation of the same is out to delight us all.

The animated movie adaptation carries the signature wit, charm and grace of the classic literary offering and manages successfully to engage the audience through its span of a tick under one and a half hours.

Director Wes Anderson’s animated venture manages successfully to transport us to that surrealistic fantasy world which we so associate with Roald Dahl’s works and through his smart storytelling and sheer directorial brilliance, manages to excite both the young and old.

Suffice to say that ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ carries forward the proud legacy of the previous motion picture adaptations of Dahl’s classic literary fare, be it ‘James and the Giant Peach’ and ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and leaves us yearning for more.

As far as the sequel ‘New Moon’, from Stephanie Myer’s mega successful vampire saga goes, purely on the evidence of the humungous box office harvest that the movie has generated so far, it would appear that the latest screen adaptation from the vampire series has gone down remarkably well with the audience.

However, without bursting the bubble of millions worldwide who are raving excitedly about this latest vampire fare, one may point out a few tiny glitches in an otherwise excellent adaptation.

The narrative, although taut generally, drags a bit in places and also the audience would have loved to see a little more of that screen ‘romance’ between Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) before exploring this new love angle between a ‘lonely’ Bella and Jacob. But otherwise the movie makes for a stunning visual spectacle with superb performances to boot.

But hey! Don’t lets worry coz there are several other franchises in the making people and we certainly haven’t seen the last of Edward and Bella yet!

On screen that is….!
