“This Is It” was a planned series of 50 concerts by Michael Jackson to be held at The O2 arena in London. They were scheduled to begin in July 2009 and continue through March 2010. Less than three weeks before the first show was due to begin, Jackson died from cardiac arrest. It is said that by then all the concert tickets were sold out.
Here’s the news that the Movie executives of Sony Pictures have changed their plans to release Michael Jackson’s hit movie “This Is It” on DVD before 2009 Christmas. The cinema bosses have impelled them to delay the release. Theatre chain heads insisted that a speedy release of the movie DVD during the holiday season will hamper ticket sales by keeping fans away from theatre.
Hence, the movie bosses had to tell the Movie executives to delay the release of “This Is It” on DVD until the New Year. Therefore, the Sony bosses extended the film’s limited two-week run to one to three weeks. It was reported earlier that Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” which earned $101 million around the world in just five days. In its opening weekend from 30th October to 1st November 2009, the movie ruled the U.S. Box Office, pulling $21.3 million.
