Making one’s way from the series of concerts, the American rock band Bon Jovi are set to perform at the O2 Arena in London next year. In spite of the fact that the band has not revealed the length of their run, it is expected to rival the 21 days of shows which Prince played in 2007.
“Bon Jovi are the best live band in the world. This one could run and run,” BBC News quoted AEG Live promoter Rob Hallett as saying. The concerts, to begin in June next year, will mark Bon Jovi’s return to the London venue, after they opened it in 2007.
“When Jon Bon Jovi opened the O2 with the words, ‘Hello London, welcome to your new home’, little did he realize that we were already plotting to make it his new home,” said Hallett.
The O2 gigs will be part of the group’s Circle Tour named after their forthcoming album and will be their only European dates of 2010. Eventually late Michael Jackson was supposed to play a record-breaking run of 50 dates at the O2 this summer but passed away before the shows began.
On 2nd November, the band – Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, David Bryan and Tico Torres have sold 120 million albums and will release their latest album, The Circle.
According to Billboard magazine, they have performed more than 2,600 concerts to 34 million fans in over 50 countries and notched up the highest-grossing tour of 2008 with takings of $210 million.
