Aamir Khan: What’s common between him and Danny Boyle?

The entire cinematic world sat up & took notice of Indian slum-kids when the British director Danny Boyle fabricated them in his canvas ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. The film that revolves around a slum-based lad who, by sheer chance, goes on to win the prized one crore rupees in a game-show, won accolades from all quarters & was crowned the best motion film in Oscars 2009.
The film put the focus on the pathetic condition of the slum-dwellers & gave a few kids to earn colossal limelight. Now, stepping into Danny’s shoe, Bollywood’s topmost star Aamir Khan has signed on 3 poor kids who earn their bread by singing in the Mumbai’s local trains. Aamir has reportedly signed them to sing for his next production film ‘The Falling’. The film replicates the pitiable life-story of Indian farmers & deals with the sensitive issue of their suicide.
The kids, Durga(12), Nagarjuna(17) and Bramendra(18) were spotted by Mathias Duplessy, who has lend the background score to the film. The kids showed their monumental talent at Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s house where they sang before the presence of a small audience of Aamir, Kiran Rao, Vidhu and his wife Anupama. The trio, surely, impressed the judges, as we know, Mr. Aamir is all for perfection.
Let’s see, if Aamir creates a social awareness, as he did in ‘Taare Zameen Par’ or does he spark a global debate over the farmers’ deplorable condition akin to Danny Boyle.
