Adam Sandler : Adam Sandler offers support to Russell Brand over prank call episode
- 0 Comments
Actor Adam Sandler has voiced his support for Russell Brand after the controversial comic’s infamous radio phone prank call.
The former BBC host had resigned owing to a scandal that had risen from his vulgar behaviour towards Andrew Sachs, best known for his portrayal of ‘Manuel’ in the TV comedy ‘Fawlty Towers’.
The 78-year-old Sachs, who had been due to be a phone-in guest on a late-night radio show, on being unavailable had received four messages on his home phone from Brand and DJ Jonathan Ross claiming the former had slept with his granddaughter, Georgina Baillie.
The October incident, in which Brand spoke of his prior sexual relationship with the goth-styled model while Ross passed lewd comments, had led to a record number of complaints and criticism resulting in the suspension of both presenters from their positions at the BBC Radio 2.
Sandler, who recently presented Brand with the ‘Best Live Stand-up Comedian’ trophy at the British Comedy Awards, insisted that the Brit had been sorry for his actions and wanted to move on with his life.
“He isn’t happy and he is regretful and looking forward to moving on. I didn’t hear the tape. I think a lot of comedians are trying to make people laugh all the time and sometimes you’re in a place where you hurt people,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.
“But he is a good man. He is sorry too. You’ve got to move on,” he added. (ANI)
