Bollywood’s Big Budget Films 2009: From ‘Om Shanti Om’ 45 crores, to ‘Blue’80 crore!

The year is almost at its fag end and there have been really very big budget films that have been released. Yet, there have been many that have given far more to their producers than they put in, and there have been those that have not been able to give back as much. But we are not here to judge which was more successful and which was not. Rather, we are here to only tell you how much hard work and hard cash is put in to churn out the sleek and sophisticated bollywood movies that are a source of entertainment to more than half the world.

The ones that come to our mind for this year’s big spenders are: Blue with a budget of 80 crore rupees, Ghajini 65 crores, Kambakht Ishq 60 crores, Jodha Akbar 50 lakhs, etc. Though last year too there were big spenders like Love story 2050 with 50 crores, Om Shanti Om with 45 crores, etc.

All the big spenders have foreign locales and the most sophisticated technology to get the best results possible. So like last year most of this year’s big producers have gone laughing to the bank but for those who didn’t, we wish them good luck in the coming year. Keep a watch on this column for more on bollywood movies.
