So, I would like to congratulate everybody of the film industry, who supported me from director to music director, assistant, spot boy, all my leading ladies and all my leading men that I had the good fortune to work with, because of whom I was able to spend so many years in the industry,” said Bachchan.

“I do want to thank primarily the people of my country for giving me their love, their support, their affection and their prayers on many an occasion, trial and tribulation that I have gone through and I truly feel very, very humble in their presence. May they continue to like what we do and hopefully the few years that are left in my career, may they continue to enjoy what we do,” Bachchan added.

Around 200 films from 56 countries where showcased in this event. White Lightnin’ directed by Dominic Murphy was got the best film award, Greek filmmaker Theo Angelopoulos was also honored with a Lifetime Achievement award. And last but not the least, Devanand’s home production house Navketan films also got felicitated for completing 60 years in the film industry.

It was February and the eve of the grammy awards when Chris Brown beats Rihanna black and blue. Rihanna shared the incident with Diane Sawyer in an interview on ABC television’s “Good Morning America” show and the whole world listened.

“It wasn’t the same person that says ‘I love you.’ It was not those…eyes,” Rihanna said as she explained how Chris had bitten her, put her in a headlock and left her bleeding and swollen. “He had…no soul in his eyes. Just blank…He was clearly blacked out. There was no person when I looked at him,” she said. Rihanna described, it all started with a text message which Chris tried to hide from her. “I couldn’t take it that he kept lying to me. And he couldn’t take it that I wouldn’t drop it. And…it was ugly,” she told Sawyer. “I fended him off with my feet…but it was not like, it was not like a fight with each other. I just…I really just wanted it to stop,” she said. Her screams prompted a by passer to call the police. “I was bleeding, I was swollen in the face,” she said. “So there was no way of me getting home, except for, my next option was to get out of the car and walk. Start walking in a gown, in a bloody face. So I really don’t know what my plan was.”
The ordeal is over but the pain still remains, Rihanna explained “The thing that men don’t realize when they hit a woman, it’s…the face, the broken arm, the black eye, it’s going to heal. That’s not the problem. It’s the scar inside.

“You flashback…you…you remember all the time. It comes back to you whether you like it or not. And it’s painful. So I don’t think he understood that,” she said.
Though Chris has apologized publicly about his cruel deeds, Rihanna said she now has “no desire at all to be with him.”

So that is what advertisements are supposed to do. A very simple and integral part of marketing and a very convenient way to reach a large consumer base. When the magical medium television entered the scene with a bang, advertisements grew and became a multi-billion dollar industry worldwide. That is when the bright minds of the industry came up with the idea of using celebrities to urge people to buy the showcased products. They feel that since people look up to the stars as their role models, their words may create a greater impact on their minds than a regular model’s. Moreover, it has also become a status symbol for the uber rich corporate houses to rope in more and more elusive and sought after names as a part of their stable. That is the reason why SRK can quote a price of 7 to 8 crores per advertisement in the recession hit market and Ash pours up to 4 crores into her kitty with every Lux or Loreal that she endorses.

But we should pause a moment to consider, do these slickly made, ultra expensive advertisements really influence our buying? I mean come on, every middle class housewife knows that a thousand costly facials and treatments are the secret behind Katrina Kaif’s flawless complexion and not the bathing bar Dyna, which she so glibly praises. Nor do men expect to emerge unscathed through a raging tornado on a bike like matinee idol Hrithik Roshan. So when we buy a product because our favorite star is endorsing it, do we do so because we have faith in the quality of the product or do we appreciate the ability of the brand to spend money lavishly by making improbable advertisements??

Some of the most touching advertisements like the ones made by LIC feature little known faces and leave an indelible print on our hearts because of the human emotions they portray. The time may soon come when the corporate houses will realize the same and stop preferring celebrities over regular models. 9Xm has already started the trend. Gelusil and Ponds use their unique channel mascots the “Beetel Nuts” and “Bheegi Billi” to promote their products. It is a refreshing change. These cute as buttons animated figures do look more real than Akshay Kumar risking his life for a bottle of Thums up!!!

The movie is all about a story of a journalist (McGregor) who went to Iraq to prove his mental strength to his ex-wife. There he meets with a Psychic US soldier who was trained by a hippie trainer Billy (Bridges) to fight with adverse military situation using mind, peace and love. The entire story of the film is the story of these two men’s adventure together.

The whole movie can be divided into three parts according to the consequence and inner aspect of the message conveyed. The first part consists of different experience of the journalist and Lye while traveling in different parts of Iraq for the mission Lye is in. The second part portrays the creation and existence of psychic soldiers in US military. This part of the movie holds the main back-story or backbone of the story. This part also represents the character of Lyn and Billy nicely. The third part is the first person narration by Ewen McGregor where he gives his thought and vision to entire scenario and the experiences he shares with Lyn in the expedition.

The movie is unique in nature and enriched the excellent acting by entire cast.

It is also reported that while on shoot Amitabh used to behave like a child and cry loudly and ask for chocolates. It was necessary to keep chocolates for the film as it is good for a person suffering from this disease to eat chocolates. On last Wednesday, the ‘Carry On’ star announced that she would leave her role in hit BBC show EastEnders in 2010 after 15 years, to have more time in hand for her younger husband, Scott Mitchell.

Having earlier pulled out of concerts at Sheffield, Newcastle upon Tyne, Liverpool and Wembley, on 31st October, Sir Elton had to cancel the last leg of his Red Piano tour in Dublin. Two weeks ago, he also missed Boyzone star Stephen Gately’s funeral though Mr Furnish attended it on his behalf.

Sir Elton’s spokesman confirmed that he has got flu infection but they did not elaborate it. After Mr Furnish left the hospital, he told The Mail on Sunday newspaper that Elton is fine. Furnish was wearing sunglasses and he was dressed in black.

Robbie Williams, who has won more BRITs than any other artist, will be honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award on 16 February 2010 and will close the show with a ’sensational’ live performance at London’s Earls Court.

“Robbie is one of the outstanding artists and performers of his generation,” the Sun quoted Ged Doherty, chairman of The BRITs Committee, as saying. “It will be an absolute thrill to have him at the BRITs’ 30th anniversary show receiving the Outstanding Contribution Award. The Daily Express, reports that The Vantage Point star was leaving Philippe restaurant in the early hours of Thursday with his wife Kimberly and a friend when he jumped into the driver’s seat of his Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).

Suddenly, a cop car pulled up alongside when Dennis was about to speed away from the venue. The cop warned Quaid against driving home after suspecting him of drinking alcohol, saving him from a possible arrest for driving under the influence (DUI).

A video footage of the incident posted on TMZ.com shows the actor being told by the officer to ‘get out of the car’. He responded to the cop, “What do you want me to do?” before requesting the policeman’s permission to return to the restaurant and call a cab.

Dennis along with others and the cop went inside the restaurant and came out a short time later to a waiting cab. The paps screamed “You don’t want a DUI. You don’t want to end up like Mel Gibson.”

Everyone, including Dennis, laughed and they drove away.

According to property website LA.Curbed.com, the actor has finally accepted an offer for the mansion, said to be between 6.6 million pounds and 10 million pounds, reports Daily Express.

The star wants to pay off a series of his tax bills dating back to 1997 for which he has been reassessing his finances. It seems to be true that Cage is courageous enough to let go the Beautiful Mansion.

It appeared that Katherine has been fighting to have a say in all decisions made regarding her son’s estate because she was left 40 per cent of the net value of the ‘Thriller’ hit maker’s assets.

They have invented a technique that includes disappearing scar tissue from the vocal cords and then injecting a gel called polyethylene glycol to substitute it. The man-made essence is extraordinarily designed to mimic the elasticity of the natural vocal cord without being rejected by the body.

Within a year, the substance is expected to be in the clinic as it has already proved successful and safe in animals. Funny to hear that Andrews has already expressed her desire to be a guinea pig for the new treatment. “The substance is designed to vibrate and behave just like a vocal cord,” the Telegraph quoted Professor Langer as saying.

The lawyers of the channel have apparently demanded the claim be cut from the show, as the ‘Mysterious Girl’ prepares to file a lawsuit.

The pop star is reportedly taking advice from his legal team to take court action against both the show and Katie over her “complete lies”.

The singer was found dead at his holiday home in Spain after choking on his vomit in the night on October 10.

The 33-year-old Irishman’s shock death had led investigators to probe if the use of any substances was involved, reports the Mirror.

Officials found small traces of cannabis but they were so tiny that the report will say it could have been consumed days before Gately’s holiday in Majorca.

The body of the Boyzone star was found at his home in Port Andratx, on the western tip of Majorca in Spain, on October 10.

The CCTV clip shows Gately and his civil partner Andrew Cowles sober and happy as they entered the Aries nightclub in Palma, Majorca at 11.57pm on October 9, a night before Gately’s dead body was discovered.

Gately and Cowles are reported to have met two pals at the club.
 
The News of the World quoted a barman as saying: “Stephen bought a round and just had one drink, a bottle of Miniblack Freixenet bubbly which cost seven euros. I know he wasn’t drunk or anything.”

Bar owner Susanna Lewis, corroborated the barman and said: “Stephen was in good spirits. He’s been in here a few times and was always a perfect gentleman.

“He never played the big star or anything. This is a gay complex and he obviously felt comfortable here.

“On the video you can see everything’s fine. Stephen’s not falling about drunk or looking angry or sad. It’s just a night out and everyone is chilled. He seemed perfectly fit and healthy.”

The video shows Gately and his three pals leaving the bar at 12.33am.

They then visited the Euphoria bar 50 yards away, where Gately met up with Georgi Dochev, before they starting off for the Black Cat club.

An insider from Euphoria said: “There was a group of about six enjoying themselves but they weren’t drunk or anything. They only had one or two at the most. Everyone seemed in a happy mood.”

At 4 in the morning Gately, Cowles and Dochev took a cab to the star’s pad in Port Andratx.

Dochev told cops that they more drinks at home, Gately smoked cannabis joint following which the three of them got “intimate”.

Dochev said he left Cowles and Gately sleeping on the sofa, while he crashed in the bedroom.

Although, it is believed Gately passed away between 5am and 10am, it was not until noon that Dochev realised he had died. (ANI)

Samantha Burke, who gave birth to the ‘Alfie’ star’s daughter Sophia last month, apparently had affairs with customers of the restaurant ‘Hooters’ in Florida.

She got involved in the alleged relationships as soon as she had returned to work after a two-week fling with the actor in New York, where she had gone for a modelling contract, during Christmas last year.

“Sam kept going on dates with customers in the very early stages of the pregnancy. She had two guys she regularly dated,” the News of the World quoted a fellow waitress in Pensacola Beach as saying.

“She’d spend all shift talking about Jude, but when one of the guys she’d been out with came in, she flirted with them. She told me she had been out with both of them.

“She was always boasting how well they treated her. One was a rich real estate broker in his thirties who would give her hundred-dollar tips.

“Her other guy was a businessman in his forties who really splashed the cash. So even though he was not good looking she still went out with him. She loved bragging about how well men treated her. She slept with five guys during her a year at the bar,” she added.

The pal also added that Samantha boasted of “amazing sex” with Law and mentioned that he “treated her like a princess”.
