Each Arkansas football game this season will be televised and distributed around the nation as part of the unprecedented coverage provided by the new Southeastern Conference television agreements.

The games will be aired in 49 stations nationwide ,  sec network affiliate. Arkansas-Mississippi State game and the Alabama-Chattanooga games will be split up by SEC Network affiliates.

This is the 10th time this season UA will play on network television. It’s a record in itself for most appearances during a regular season in school history.

The game will also be available on ESPN Game plan and ESPN360, so the fans who do not reside in the area of any of the affiliates need not be disappointed.

An angry UFC president Dana White tweeted in his Twitter account “Karo Parisyan has [expletive] over the UFC, the fans and his opponent again!!! On July 8, 2009, Andrews was struck by a foul ball in the chin. The ball was hit by Alex Cora of the New York Mets. She was rushed to the hospital, but she only suffered bruises.

Detectives learned that Kazemi’s recent attempted sale of her Kia automobile had fallen through, making her liable for payments on both the Kia and a 2007 Cadillac Escalade.  Although the Escalade was co-titled in the names of Kazemi and McNair, it appears Kazemi was responsible for the payments.  Her female apartment roommate had decided to move to Pittsburgh, which would have left Kazemi with an effective doubling of her monthly rent payment to the neighborhood of $1,000.  

Kazemi recently learned of another young woman she apparently believed to be romantically involved with McNair, and had even followed that second woman to her place of residence, although there was no confrontation between the two. On Friday, July 3, Kazemi remarked to an associate, “my life is a ball of s… and I should just end it.”

Based on the appearance of the crime scene, evidence collected, autopsy findings, and laboratory testing, veteran police department homicide investigators believe that McNair was seated on a sofa and was likely asleep when he was shot by Kazemi in the left side of his head from a distance of a few feet.  She is then believed to have shot him twice in the chest from a distance of a few feet, before shooting him a final time in the right side of his head in what was a contact wound.  The totality of the evidence shows that Kazemi sat down on the sofa to McNair’s right, put her pistol to the right side of her head and fired.  Kazemi then collapsed into McNair’s lap before eventually falling into the floor on top of the pistol.

It was reported that:

- All five recovered bullets came from the nine millimeter semi-automatic pistol recovered at the scene and purchased by Kazemi for $100 last Thursday evening;

- All five shell casings recovered from the condominium were fired from the same nine millimeter pistol purchased by Kazemi;

- Gunshot residue testing was inconclusive due to blood contamination; however, trace elements indicative of gunshot residue were found on Kazemi’s left hand, suggesting that she likely fired the gun using both hands.

- No gunshot residue was found on the hands of McNair.

Due to the lack of evidence of any struggle or defensive wounds, McNair’s physical position on the sofa, and the trajectory of the bullet wounds, detectives believe it likely that McNair was unaware Kazemi was about to shoot him.

Yesterday, it was reported that Detectives investigating the shooting deaths of Steve McNair and Sahel Kazemi have learned that the pistol believed to have been used, the same one recovered at the crime scene, was purchased by Kazemi from a private individual Thursday night.

Kazemi’s former boyfriend, Keith Norfleet, was interviewed by detectives at police headquarters Sunday evening. He was fully cooperative. Detectives are continuing to talk to persons who knew McNair and Kazemi as they work to learn the circumstances behind the shooting deaths.

On July 4, 2009, McNair was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head, along with a female victim, 20-year-old Sahel Kazemi, who was found dead of a single gunshot wound to the head, in a condominium in downtown Nashville, Tennessee.

At the present time, Grandma’s Marathon is run by almost 10,000 runners every year, has nearly a $2 million operating budget and is credited with bringing tens of millions of tourist money into the City of Duluth. According to Sky News, the former Army officer and his expedition teammates Devon McDiarmid and Derek Crowe will walk the full length of Greenland, from the Atlantic Ocean on the south coast to the Arctic Ocean on the north coast between May and July.

They will be using the power of the wind to kite ski and haul 150 kg sleds for two months over a 3,500km route that has never been done before.

He said: “It’s a long way from the Greenland ice cap, but training is training and pulling tyres is a staple diet of polar travel.

“Though we aim to be using kites for the majority of the journey, hauling heavy sleds is an inevitable component of any polar expedition and there is no better preparation for this than pulling tyres,” he was quoted, as saying.

Hayes is acknowledged as one of the world’s leading adventurer/explorers and belongs to an exclusive club. (ANI)

While wearing protective jump suits, knee-pads and helmets, the boarders visited the foothills of Nicaragua’s Cerro Negro mountain, and climbed 726 metres (2,382ft) to travel down on specially-constructed plywood boards.

Cerro Negro is Central America’s youngest volcano and appeared in April 1850. It has been one of the most active volcanoes in Nicaragua, reports The Telegraph.

But its unstable reputation didn’t stop Phillip Southan, owner of Bigfoot Hostel and Green Pathways Tours, which developed the sport.

He said: “The volcano is very active. But the biggest risk is the risk is getting some scratches if you fall off. What we offer is a tour for everyone with absolutely no experience necessary. One of the greatest attractions of the tour is that you get a bit of everything.

“Nicaraguan rural culture, hiking, amazing views, walking in an active volcano and then of course the high adrenaline boarding down the volcano.” (ANI)

Damir Dokic faces three years in prison for threatening to fire a rocket at the Australian ambassador to Belgrade and for illegally possessing explosive devices.

Damir Dokic allegedly flew into a violent rage in reaction to an article in this week’s magazine Sport and Style which claimed he physically abused his daughter,  Jelena.

The two illegal “bombs” found in a drawer in his home are believed to be hand grenades. He had permits for seven rifles in his home but is alleged to have illegally been in possession of ammunition. Dokic cast a dejected figure when he was taken out of the back of a prison van in the Serbian town of Ruma, reports The Herald Sun.

An investigative judge has ordered that Damir Dokic be held in custody for up to 30 days pending an investigation.

Dokic’s lawyer Bosiljka Djukic plans to go to the Supreme Court to appeal against the decision in a bid to have him freed from the Sremska Mitrovica prison where he is awaiting his fate.

His arrest has upset 26-year-old daughter Jelena who has been estranged from her father for seven years.

“Jelena is very distressed and saddened by her father’s arrest,” her IMG agent Lawrence Frankopan said in a brief statement released in London on Thursday.

“She understands very well the severity of the situation. Obviously, she cannot, in any way, be held responsible for her father’s actions. Jelena remains 100 per cent focused on her tennis in preparation for the upcoming French Open. We will have no further comment on this unfortunate situation,” Frankopan added.

Dokic’s arrest has had little impact on his reputation in his home village of Vrdnik, where he is worshiped for bringing in a flood of cash. (ANI)

“There is no question the clashes we have had in the past with Arsenal will not reach the proportion of this,” The Sun quoted Ferguson, as saying.

United lead the semi-final tie 1-0 after the first leg at Old Trafford and they are aiming to become the first club to successfully defend the trophy.

“It is strange that no one has defended the trophy. It is a challenge. We are in a good place going into the game. We have a lead and we are only one kick away from Rome. It is a big incentive for us,” he added.

“I think we will need to score and we have that goal threat about us which is a big bonus. We have the ability to score and if we did it would put us in a very strong position. But I am expecting a very close game. You cannot call it.

“They are two terrific sides and it should be quite an engrossing game. I don’t think anybody is going to be disappointed with this match,” Ferguson said.

This will be Ferguson’s sixth semi-final having been successful in only two. (ANI)

“Clearly he showed us that he has some of the qualities needed to be a great captain. Clarke has won seven of the 10 matches he has captained when stepping in for Ricky Ponting. But his batting average in those matches is down to 36 in ODIs from 43, which is worrying. The other worrying feature is that I believe not too many of his teammates would walk over broken glass for him. Sure, he’s well liked, but he can’t be rated that highly because NSW won’t even make him its captain,” Jones writes in an article for The Age.

Jones believes that current captain Ricky Ponting is not in form, a averaging only 25 in ODIs and 43 in Tests since January 2008.

“He seems to have not been thinking too much about his game and has lacked the Ponting touch. His efforts in the ODIs, in particular, are worrying. He looks more of a slogger now and he is selling himself short – or his wicket, at least,” feels Jones.

“The Australians have problems in all departments. They haven’t played enough Twenty20 cricket and they will be under-prepared for the Twenty20 World Cup in five weeks. In the 1992 World Cup we did not play one limited-overs match before we met the Kiwis and we lost our first two games through our poor preparation. The other problem for Australia is its batting. The Australian batsmen seem to have no idea of how to work the spinners around and seem bent on worrying about the doosra instead of watching length more,” he said.

He suggests that it would not be a bad idea to ask former leg spinner Shane Warne to captain Australia until after the ODI World Cup in mid-2011.

“Warne would jump at it without doubt. His Ferrari wouldn’t get him to the MCG as quickly. It would be the only way Australia could get him back and it would at least solve our spin problem. I know Warne turns 40 in September, but we have had four past Australian captains who were 42 or older in Warren Bardsley, Syd Gregory, Bob Simpson and Warwick Armstrong. You can see how infectious his captaincy has been with the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League and we know he can still bowl,” says Jones.

“He has Australia’s best cricket brain among those still playing and the current Australian players would die for him. Herein lies the big issue,” he adds. (ANI)

The Australian Supreme Court has been told that Octagon is suing Hewitt for undisclosed millions for loss of merchandising and management fees, claiming Hewitt breached his exclusive representation contract with them.

The firm claims Hewitt invested hundreds of thousands of dollars offshore and took up to two million dollars a year from his bank account as personal expenses.

Hewitt, on the other hand, has complained that Octagon, failed to make enough money for him – including not investing in Lehman Brothers, a US firm that spectacularly collapsed last year.

The selectors meet today to pick the 12-man Test squad with the number three position being contested by Bell, former captain Michael Vaughan, Ravi Bopara and Owais Shah.

Warwickshire batsman Bell impressed the management with his fitness regime after being axed in the Caribbean and cracked the first County Championship hundred of the season upon his return.

It was a lack of substantial innings which cost Bell in the first place and the 27-year-old said: “One thing I walked away with from my experience this winter is that when you are in the team, you have to make it count.

 ”When I get my next chance I want to make myself undroppable. That’s probably where I have let myself down in the last year. I want to make myself undroppable,” the Daily Express quoted Bell, as saying.

 ”At times I have played quite nicely for 30s, 40s and 50s but I haven’t got the hundreds behind me to say: ‘You can’t drop him’. You need hundreds if you’re going to keep your place in the team consistently. That is something I will address and when I get my next chance I will try to nail it.”

Bell, identified early as a future international batsman and first summoned into a full England squad seven years ago, will certainly be hoping for a clean slate, having yet to forge the kind of career predicted for him at the turn of the millennium. (ANI

Beckham was meant to return to the Los Angeles Galaxy last month, but Ancelotti struck a deal with the MLS side to extend the 33-year-old’s short-term loan deal at the San Siro until the end of the Serie A campaign.

The unique ‘timeshare’ agreement will then see Beckham return to America for the rest of LA Galaxy’s season, when another stint with the Italian club has been widely speculated, the Daily Express reported.

Tottenham are also rumoured to be interested in the England midfielder following a string of strong performances for the Serie A giants, but Ancelotti remains confident he will be permanently at the San Siro by next January.

“Beckham will return to the United States and will stay there until the end of his contract, which expires in November. David has proved himself to be an exemplary professional and I honestly didn’t expect him to play at such a high level,” Ancelotti said.

“Then Milan will buy him in the winter transfer market. David has proved himself to be an exemplary professional and I honestly didn’t expect him to play at such a high level,” he added.

But despite Ancelotti making future plans for the club, reports continue to emerge that the long-standing Milan coach might not be there next season.

The United manager, whose team face Arsenal in the semi-finals of the competition tonight, says the ‘omens’ are good for his side to win the title in back to back years.

“You say to yourself it would be great if we could be the first do that [retain the Champions League trophy]. We are good at winning things for the first time and maybe that is a good omen for us,” the Daily Express quoted Ferguson, as saying.

No team has managed to retain the trophy since it changed from the European Cup. Milan, Ajax and Juventus were all beaten finalists in the mid 90s a year after becoming European champions, but no side have managed to go one better.

Ferguson admits that he is letting himself dream. “Talk is cheap, but faint heart never won fair lady and it’s something I would dearly love to do. Some might say I am tempting fate but at Old Trafford we have always set our sights high.

“No one is saying it will be easy, and we will certainly need to enjoy that little rub of luck and freedom from injury that can make you or break you,” he added.

Edwin van der Sar, United’s Dutch keeper, is one of the few players to have come close to retaining the trophy.

He won the Champions League with Ajax in 1995 and was also in goal as the Dutch side lost the final to Juventus on penalties 12 months later.

He believes United can go one better and hold onto their European crown. (ANI)

Seeking to build his workload after elbow surgery in December, Clark has so far bowled 11 overs in the series, eight in game one, rested for game two and three in a spin-dominated third match.

“That’s no secret that I need to do some more cricket work. But I’m getting a fair amount of cricket work in the nets, which is something I wouldn’t have got at home, being winter, and there’s not many facilities available other than probably Brisbane. England, obviously I would have gone and played county cricket (if not selected for Australia) and it would have been more competitive,” Clark said.

“So just bowling repetitively, like batters hit lots of cricket balls and baseballers throw lots of pitches, it’s just bowling lots of cricket balls and that’s exactly what I need,” he added.

Asked whether a county stint would have been better preparation, he said it was a “50-50″ call.

“I would have played some more cricket as such, but this is an opportunity to play for Australia and no one should ever turn that down,” he said. (ANI)

Flintoff is missing once again after knee surgery on Monday saw him laid up until the Twenty20 World Cup in June.

Bopara, who came in for Flintoff on the recent tour of West Indies, smashed a sparkling century in Barbados before being dropped for the final Test.

Bopara is the likely man at No. 6, and Cook believes that his county teammate can continue giving the selectors a headache, The Sun reports.

“It’s hugely disappointing for England that Freddie is out – especially for the big man himself. People don’t see the work that he puts in behind the scenes getting fit, so it’s doubly frustrating for him,” Cook said.

“Whoever gets the chance to come in will want to perform as well as they can. And Ravi is one of the most talented cricketers I’ve played with – he can hit balls for four that I can only dream of.

“Last year he started to fulfil that promise and showed his quality. The hundred in Barbados was classy. I’ve grown up playing cricket with him throughout my career, and he has all the shots in the book. He’s confident, but he is now backing up that confidence up with the goods,” he added. (ANI)

Winger Walcott knows Arsenal’s chances of reaching next month’s Champions League final will hinge on keeping Ronaldo under lock and key at Old Trafford tonight.

He has nothing but admiration for the Portuguese magician whose trickery, pace and power can drive opponents to distraction, The Sun reports.

“Ronaldo is the best player in the world for me. He only needs to walk on to the pitch to have defenders scared straight away. That’s the message I want to send out. I want left-backs to see my name on the team-sheet and be afraid of me before we’ve even kicked off,” Walcott said.

“I’ve got to work hard to get to that level. Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney are already there. Wazza is an unbelievable player and obviously we have to stop him in the semi-final because he is a winner.

“Even in training with England he wants to win all the time. He’ll kick anyone to win – you definitely want to be in his team.”

Yet Walcott insists Arsenal’s kids have more than enough quality to end United’s reign as European champions.

He added: “We feel we’re as good as any team in the world. You can go through each individual in the Arsenal side and we have so many potential match winners. We know how dominant we can be and we play unbelievable football at times.”

After a special meeting of the board’s working committee, the BCCI decided to grant the ICL players time till May 31 to severe all their ties with the unauthorized league, and grab an opportunity to play in the domestic circuit from June 1.

“The BCCI has taken a decision to grant amnesty to players who have been associated the ICL. They have been given time till May 31 during which they need to sever all ties with the ICL and come back to the BCCI and inform the board,” BCCI President Shashank Manohar told media persons after the meeting.

Board officials said the players who choose to return to the ‘official’ scheme of things would be considered for international assignments after serving the ICC proposed ‘cooling off period’ of a year.

“We have taken a further decision on those players and the support staff of the ICL that they will not be able to play international cricket or given international assignments for a period of one year from the date they sever their allegiance with the ICL,” Manohar added.

He said that many of the ICL players have met the board officials and repented  their decision to have  join the ICL.

The Indian Cricket League (ICL), which has engaged many retired big names of cricket such as Inzamam-ul Haq, Brian Lara, Shane Bond, Nathan Astle, Chris Harris and Abdul Razzaq was launched by the Zee Group after India’s World Cup debacle in the West Indies in 2007. (ANI)

Flintoff required keyhole surgery on torn cartilage after he was forced to pull out of the Indian Premier League, where he had a forgettable debut for the Chennai Super Kings.

“The surgeon has informed the England and Wales Cricket Board’s chief medical officer Nick Peirce that the operation went extremely smoothly,” The Telegraph quoted Hugh Morris, the managing director England Cricket, as saying.

“I am grateful to the ECB medical team, the surgeon and radiologists as well as the Chennai Super Kings for keeping the England team management and me informed about Andrew’s injury and the subsequent operation,” he added.

The all-rounder will be out of action for between three and five weeks, meaning he should be available to play in the World Twenty20 competition, starting on  June 5.

He will, however, definitely miss the two-Test series against West Indies. (ANI)

The senior public prosecutor in Dubai Shakir Hashim Al Darmakl, while contradicting reports which said that Asif has not been banned for life from entering Dubai, said: “It is a 25-year-ban that I had recommended for him for carrying a drug.”

Darmakl informed that during Asif’s 19 day detention in Dubai, his eyes were also scanned to prevent him from entering the city.

“If he tries to enter into this country by any other passport again, he can easily be caught,” The Daily Times quoted Darmakl, as saying.

Asif had earlier claimed that he was not deported from the UAE for possessing a banned substance.

He had told the PCB enquiry committee looking after the issue, that he was not deported from Dubai.

The chief of the enquiry committee, Wasim Bari, said that the committee has asked Asif to supplement his claims by documents.

“Asif told us verbally that he can enter the UAE, but we need a document to back up his claim. We want to give him time to prove it otherwise. We want to give Asif as much time as we can. If he fails to submit the required letter by the first week of next month, we will submit our findings to the PCB,” Bari told mediapersons.

Asif is also facing a one year ban from the Indian Premier League (IPL) for testing positive for the nandrolone during the league’s inaugural season in September last year.  (ANI)

Chairman of the ECB selection committee, Geoff Miller, said: “There is a hell of a lot of international cricket to be played this summer and the team is sure to develop as we go along.”

The selection committee has to also decide on its most potent bowling combination for the series.

With all-rounder Andrew Flintoff injured, the selectors have been forced to decide who will join James Anderson and Stuart Broad for the third seamer’s position.

The promising wild cards are Mark Davies, Robbie Joseph and Charlie Shreck. The choice could boil down to a pair of tall right-armers from the north of England. Sajid Mahmood has a reputation for flakiness and inaccuracy, while Graham Onions has been out of the pecking order for a while. So while one of these men will probably be included in England’s 12-man party, due to be named at 10am, whoever gets the nod is likely to carry the drinks.

“If there is any opportunity for me to work in Australia, I would love to take that opportunity. I can teach them [doosra] if they want my services,” Saqlain told the Sydney Morning Herald.

Australian off spinners, including Nathan Hauritz, Jason Krejza and Dan Cullen, are all experimenting with the delivery in the nets.

Cullen, the 25-year-old South Australian who has played one Test, boasted of having mastered the art, but Hauritz said no one had ever seen it.

Krejza and Hauritz have got a version of the doosra to go straight. Making it turn away from right-handed batsmen is a different matter entirely.

Hauritz has been working on the ball for two years in the nets, but bowls only about 10 doosras three times a week because it causes so much discomfort.

The main barriers to bowling the doosra are flexibility and the need for a front-on approach at the bowling crease, with Australian off spinners all coached to remain side-on.

Saqlain is convinced the doosra can be bowled in accordance with the ICC rules, which outlaw elbow flexion of more than 15 degrees.

While the focus is generally on the elbow, Saqlain said the whole body, particularly the front foot, was essential to keeping the doosra a legal delivery.

“When you plant the front foot, use your shoulder and lock the wrist you can do it without bending your arm. But if there is a problem in the front foot, in the wrist or in the balance, then you can’t do it,” he said.

The leading exponents of the doosra, Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan and India’s Harbhajan Singh, were both reported for the manner in which they bowled the delivery but were subsequently cleared.  (ANI)
