Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange’s Grey Gardens is a must watch!

HBO’s  Grey Gardens is a movie with a difference. It depicts how two glam stars – Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange – can be made to work in a way that their talent shines. Sample this from mercurynews: ” Lange and Barrymore have been brave enough to ditch the Hollywood glam and totally immerse themselves in these socially out-of-whack characters. During the
course of the film, they convincingly age 40 years, putting on pounds, wrinkles and blemishes.”

Grey Gardens is an adaptation of 1975 documentary film ranked number 2 by the World Film Academy in its 100 Greatest Documentaries of the 20th Century . The film depicts the everyday lives of two women who lived at Grey Gardens, a decrepit mansion at 3 West End Road in the wealthy Georgica Pond neighborhood of East Hampton, New York.

Previously. it was reported that Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange had their differences over who had the claim to the Best Actress nomination. HBO chiefs were said to have pitched in for Barrymore, leaving Lange to court the Best Supporting actress category – allegedly leading to a row between the two actresses. Finally, HBO decided that both would run for the lead category.

A spokeswoman for HBO said: “HBO would never presume to dictate which category an actor chooses for award submissions. We do engage in a dialogue with actors and filmmakers to facilitate the process, but the actor’s decision is always final.”

Lange’s rep also added: “Prior to the decision being made, there was lots of discussion between Drew, the studio and Jessica. Obviously people wanted a scenario where everyone was happy. At the end of the day, HBO was the one who looked at the screentime and made the call.” (ANI)
