Eva Mendes: Eva Mendes proud of her humble background

Actress Eva Mendes , one of the most gorgeous women in Hollywood has admitted that she spent a decade wearing her sisters’ old clothes.

The ‘Hitch’ star has revealed that money was tight when she was growing up so whenever she needed new outfits she was always given hand-me-downs, reports the China Daily.

“I have two sisters and a brother, although I’m the baby by 10 years,” she said. “Growing up, it was like having two sets of parents; my siblings were so protective, they were on me like  hawks. I know all about having hand-me-downs too. Until I was 10 or 11, all I wore were my sisters’ old
clothes.

“My mother kept everything and re-dressed me. It didn’t matter that a whole decade had passed and I was totally out of style,” she added.

The 35-year-old also said that she’s glad she didn’t come from a rich family as it has made her appreciate the money she has now.

She told Cosmopolitan magazine: “I wouldn’t change my upbringing. It’s given me great values towards money and has made me really appreciate everything I have. I’m not a spender or a shopper. I don’t find pleasure in being frivolous with money.”

Eva Mendes cherishes her family gatherings .“I think it’s one of those things where Cuban people are in it to enjoy life,” she explains. “I was raised in a household where you enjoyed your meals. You sit around and you bond over a meal and you consume. And so I could never be on a diet. I’ve never even tried to be on a diet because they don’t really work overall. A balanced diet works.”
