From G’s to Gents premiers tonight on MTV: Fonzworth Bentley is the host!

A new new reality show From G’s to Gents is slated to premier tonight on MTV. Hosted by Fonzworth Bentley, the show promises to be different from the rest of the crowd. From G’s to Gents rounds up 14 rough-around-the-edges young men from across the country and gives them the opportunity of a lifetime — the chance to go from G to gent and walk away with some cold, hard cash!

From executive producer Jamie Foxx, From G’s to Gents schools diamonds in the rough on how to lose the front, learn self-respect, realize their self-worth and market themselves accordingly. The wannabe gentlemen learn everything from style and grace to etiquette and chivalry. The G’s discover that with the right tools, they can become true gents.

Upon setting foot inside their posh Hollywood Hills mansion — known as the Gentleman’s Club — the boys are whipped into shape by host Fonzworth Bentley, the quintessential gentleman.

After stealing the spotlight as Diddy’s flawlessly dressed personal assistant, Fonzworth’s sense of style and impeccable manners earned him a reputation as a man of class. His book, Advance Your Swagger: How to Use Manners, Confidence and Style to Get Ahead, focuses on bringing grace and dignity back to everyday life. Indeed, the dapper gent dreams of a day when “please” and “thank you” are part of the world’s vernacular again.

Fonzworth Bentley (born Derek Watkins February 13, 1974) is a hip hop artist, entertainer, and fashion designer, best known for being a personal assistant to American celebrity Sean “Diddy” Combs. Bentley now markets his own line of umbrellas.

About Zenel, the model: He is perhaps the best known face in the crowd of G’s. Growing up in a wild and crazy neighborhood in the Bronx gave native Puerto Rican Zenel a tough outer shell. As far as he’s concerned, a real G is king of the block, possessing both street smarts and leadership skills. Zenel thinks he’s got plenty of both — and plumbing skills to boot!

As a working model, Zenel has the trendsetting aspect of G-hood on lockdown. Now he needs to translate his confidence on the runway into gentlemanly prowess so he can triumph on From G’s to Gents. Will he be able to break free of his rough ways and embrace his inner nobleman?

Lesson #1 from G’s to Gents:
Change name from anything like “Derek Watkins” to something preposterous like lets say, “Fonzworth Bentley”!!
Obviously some people get this completely wrong Examples: Sean Coombs (sounds ‘OK’)-> to Puff Daddy (sounded pretty naff) -> P Diddy (sounds even naffer))
Or “Prince Rogers Nelson” (sounds OK) -> “Prince” (sounds a bit naff) -> “squiggly icon” (completely “naff”) -> “Prince” (by which time everyone has forgotten who you were)
Start working on a ‘Good Name’ now…after all who on Earth would have allowed someone called “Derek Watkins” to host a TV show? (If they wanted it to sound ‘cool’)
