Gina Gershon sends notice to Vanity Fair magazine for The Comeback Id
Just One sentence could not escape Gina Gershon’s attention out of the juicy Eight page report The Comeback Id penned by none other than Todd S. Purdum. As a result Purdrum not only earned the title of being sleazy/slimy and dishonest from Bill Clinton but also the unwanted attention from Gina’s lawyers.
The aforementioned one line – “high-end Hollywood dinner-party gossip that Clinton has been seen visiting with the actress Gina Gershon in California.” seems to have got the Vanity Fair Magazine in trouble from the Lavely & Singer, the high profile law firm. Apparently, the attorneys have asked Vanity Fair magazine to correct its report implying “an inappropriate sexual relationship” between the actress and the former president.
Meanwhile Vanity Fair is defending Purdrum and maintaing the report as it is without accepting any changes whatsoever. It will be interesting to see who stands to gain from all this controversy. Clinton has nothing to gain while Gina has nothing to lose. Purdrum’s postion is not clear while Vanity Fair will make the most of this controversy.
Gershon is regarded as a gay icon due to her roles in movies such as Bound (in which she played a butch lesbian) and Showgirls (which is regarded as a camp classic). At the same time, her sultry good looks and frequent nude appearances in other films have also gained her a substantial heterosexual male fan base. She was ranked #51 on the Maxim Hot 100 Women of 2004.[wiki]
