Google to have an advanced way of display ad with Teracent
- 0 Comments
Google has planned to grow its display advertising business with San Mateo based Teracent, a startup that provides companies with tools for customizing display ads like web banners and interactive modules. Google has bought a Silicon Valley startup that customizes the online display advertising.
Google has been making most of its revenue from text ads listed next to search results all these days and now the tech giant sees display as the next biggest area of opportunity. Right now, Google stands second to Yahoo in display advertising after the $3.1 billion purchase of online ad service DoubleClick. It assured that the right searched ads appear at the right pages and with the right keywords. Google hopes to have a new look and feel of the ads to grab more public attention with the help of the three year old Teracent.
Teracent has an algorithm that allows ads display based on web traffic, geography, content and even time of day. The service changes display ads’ images, designs, product messages and colors automatically. It works with ads incorporating audio and video media as well. Not surprisingly, the company was led by executives from both Yahoo and DoubleClick.
Teracent was started in San Mateo in 2006 by Vikas Jha, a former engineer at one-time Google rival Inktomi!
The acquisition of Teracent is another example of how Google is trying to become a bigger player in the Internet’s display advertising market. Hope to see Google moving to the first position in the online display advertising soon with the help of Teracent…
