Helen Mirren: Can she recreate the magic of Queen yet again?

Hollywood veteran Helen Mirren, who picked up an Oscar for her ethereal portrayal of Queen Elizabeth in the 2006 movie ‘The Queen’, is all set to sketch the role of her character in an upcoming movie about Indira Gandhi, the 1st woman prime-minister of India. The 64-year old actress who still looks unearthly has been earning accolades for decades for her phenomenal acting prowess.

She has, reportedly, been signed in to play Queen Elizabeth in ‘Mother: The Indira Gandhi story’ which is a 2-part biopic revolving around the political and personal life of Indira Gandhi, an iron-lady who steered India to new heights. Hollywood megastars Tom Hanks and Tommy Lee Jones are also rumored to be the part of the project. The Indian-born director Krishna Shah makes no effort to mask his enthusiasm as he says, “ This is the project of my life, both in its scale and the subject. I have been working on the script for over two decades and it is simply a story that has to be told. It took me years to find a way into her story, but I found it with her role as a mother- both to her family and to a nation with its teeming millions. Indira was India.”

The first edition of the film may see a 2010-end release.
