Lil Wayne found guilty of weapon possession

Recent updates about Rapper Lil Wayne shows that he may face one-year jail term after found guilty of weapon possession. The Grammy Award winner who piled into four SUVs did not speak as he left the courthouse with members of his escorts.

In 2007 the 27 year old singer was caught with a gun by the police in his tour bus in Manhattan. The singer real name Dwayne Carter’s trial had been due to start 20th January.

On a debated DNA profiling technique the judge had been holding a hearing against the rapper. Wayne politely answered the judge’s standard questions with “yes, Sir” and “no, Sir” while he was present at the New York court.

In regards to his offense the singer entered his plea to second-degree attempted weapon possession. Variety magazine reports, He confessed that he had a .40 caliber semi-automatic loaded gun on bus.

The small amounts of DNA found on the loaded weapon are connected to the star reveals the prosecutors. However, defense lawyer Stacey Richman said the gun wasn’t Wayne’s, and the testing technique was too problematic to prove otherwise.

On 22nd July 2007 the police pulled over Wayne’s tour bus in Columbus Circle. They said they had seen and smelled marijuana smoke floating out the door before the bus left a concert venue minutes earlier.
