The entire world of health conscious individuals has shifted focus from Yoga to Pilates. This is a form of exercise which was actually developed during the First World War by a person called Joseph Pilates. He had innovated the form of exercise in order to make the injured in the war regain their health and confidence by making them stretch and stabilize the main muscles by making the mind more powerful and sharp. It was developed to make the mind totally in control of the muscles. This form of exercise is very effective in burning calories, adding grace, balance, giving greater concentration and giving a more balanced breathing flow to the body.
Last Year when Madonna had had a bad fall from a horse, she had started this form of exercise to recover from the many injuries she had suffered due to the misfortune. It showed great results and she was up and about much faster than expected. Other stars that have shifted to this form are names like Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Julia Roberts all are very much ardent practitioners of this form of keeping young and fit.
The basic ideas of Yoga and Pilates are the same but, in this form, the core of the body movement is kept in mind. There is a method of strengthening the core muscles so as to make them as agile as the others. Like, the abdominal muscles, spinal muscles, etc need to be given equal working and moving ability which can be achieved only through proper tuning and daily practice of the art.
This form is also very effective in curing chronic spondylitis, injuries etc.
It has become a very popular form in many homes as well. However, it is only the women who are addicted to the new exercise as it is very gracefully done. The men stay away from it now but maybe as time proves that it is the best way to health and vigor they might switch over to it.
So there you have the secret of the perfect “Hollywood bods” revealed to you. Happy exercising!
