Ptyalism; Ptyalism definition; Drooling, driveling, sialorrhea or slobbering: Excess saliva leaking out of mouth!

We don’t know why but suddenly America seems to be curious about the disease that makes one unable to retain saliva within the mouth. Well if that is what you want to know about, that is what we will enlighten you about.
The disease is generally harmless until the excess saliva chokes you or causes gagging and coughing. Common cause of having this problem would be:
* Poisoning for example, a person’s reaction to snake or insect venom or in some cases of a numbed mouth from either Orajel, or when going to the dentist office. Excess of spicy food can cause drooling as well. Neurological problems can also be a factor.
* Pregnancy can cause ptyalism as well but it’s harsher than normal ptyalism. Symptoms would consist of uncontrollable and frequent nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.
* Sialorrhea can be the case too. Its secretion of drool due to open-mouth posture while sleeping. This may trigger the normal swallow reflex and cause coughing. It generally occurs when resting soon after meals.
Cure:
* Ice creams or ice pops
* Medical treatment
* Surgical procedures
* Atropine sulfate tablets
* Behavior modification
* Glycopyrrolate (Drug)
