Roman Polanski : Polanski completing ‘The Ghost’ in jail, says pal

Incarcerated filmmaker Roman Polanski is completing his latest movie The Ghost in jail, his friend Robert Harris has revealed.

The 76-year-old has been behind bars in Zurich, Switzerland since 26 September (09), when he was detained in connection to a 1977 child sex crime.

However, Harris, who penned the screenplay of the film, insists that Polanski has come up with a way to finalise his next film ahead of its scheduled premiere at the Germany’s Berlin Film Festival in February (10).

Polanski, who completed the editing of the film on the day of his arrest, is keeping in touch with his colleagues for help and has even passed on instructions for the musical score to composer Alexandre Desplat from jail.

“He can make his wishes known from his cell. I don’t think he can make phone calls, but he can communicate,” Contactmusic quoted Harris as saying.

However, the author fears that the movie film will be lost in the controversy surrounding Polanski.

“What people think of the film is another matter. Whether the film can rise above the circumstances in which the director now finds himself I don’t know. We will test to the upper limits the notion that there’s no such thing as bad publicity,” he said.

In the film, Pierce Brosnan plays the role British prime minister accused of war crimes in The Ghost, which also has Ewan MCGregor and Kim Cattrall. (ANI)
