Sean Connery receives an honorary doctorate

Sean Connery has received an honorary doctorate from a university in Edinburgh for his contribution to cinema.

Edinburgh Napier University honoured the former James Bond star in his native Scotland on June 19.

The acting legend, who started his career as an Edinburgh milkman, wore the institution’s red, blue and white robes while showering praises on the Scottish education system.

“I know I could not be standing here today receiving this splendid honour if I had not learned to read and write at the age of five,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

“What is interesting in all of this is that I never realised it until I was in my 70s,” he added.
