Shahrukh told Lalli “Khoobsurat Hai Tu” in IFFI Goa!

The name itself can create wonders. We have seen movies like Guddi, Main Madhuri Dixit Banana Chahati Hoon where the actress is just mad about the movie stars and falls in love with him/her. But this is a movie with a little different angle. Director Makarand Deshpande does not leave anything to be imagined, spelling out his intentions right from the first frame. The story is based on the slum areas of Mumbai like Slumdog Millionaire but with a unique story angle. The simplicity of the movie is its remarkable aspect.
The story begins with Laali (debutante Ritika), a roadside flower vendor, being stabbed by John, who is madly in love with her and just cannot accept that he has to compete with none other than King Khan, who has a huge fan in Laali.
While selling flowers at the traffic signal, Laali meets Shahrukh, who lowers his car window and says the magical word, "You are looking cute." Even before the words could sink in, the Super Star has zoomed off. Life is just not the same for Laali after that.
The movie traces the journey of Laali, wherein she not only recovers from the wounds of stabbing but gains confidence. She reforms John and even saves him from being killed by the local goon, played to meticulous perfection by the director himself.
The film has a happy ending with SRK coming to meet his biggest fan. We have seen a hollywood flick like this one The Rainmaker but the hindi version is sleek and we will visualize some of the finest camera work by debuant Pathan Parvez Khan.
Hope Shahrukh will come back with a bang after a not so good 2009! Wishing Lalli and Shahrukh all the very best for their movie.
