Sheryl Crow says cancer made her selfish - ‘in a good way’

Breast cancer survivor Sheryl Crow has said that the fight with the disease has made her a selfish person-in a good way.

The 46-year-old singer has claimed that the therapy has taught her to put herself first before anyone else.

“Breast cancer help ed me put myself first in life. Once I stepped out of radiation, I had to remember that the only person who could take care of me was me. I’d better do that before I take care of everybody else, instead of everybody else first,” People quoted Crow as saying.

Crow has now managed to discard cancer from her life following lumpectomy and radiation treatments two-and-a-half years ago.

Sheryl, the winner of nine Grammy Awards, became a mom to 17-month-old son Wyatt and moved to a Tennessee farm after beating breast cancer.

She is hoping that women will be diligent about getting mammograms, learning their family history of cancer and doing self-exams.

“I feel more connected to my life now that I’ve had - and beat - breast cancer,” she said. (ANI)
