Simon Cowell : Simon Cowell in dark about X Factor ‘gagging clause’

English A&R executive Simon Cowell has revealed that he knew nothing about the clause that had been added in the X Factor contestants’ contracts banning them from criticising him.

The clause, which came to light on December 11, stated that the contestants must not say anything which “may be considered unduly negative, critical or derogatory of the company – including its personnel and, in particular, Simon Cowell.”

Cowell, 49, admitted that though he did not know about the clause, he was not surprised that it had been included in the contract, as according to him, he is “the most hated person on TV”.

“I wasn’t aware I was one of the clauses. You can’t be horrible about me,” the Sun quoted him as saying.

“That’s probably the most useless clause in the history of contracts, because everybody does talk horribly about me, and you know what? I don’t care.

“It sounds ridiculously hypocritical for me to slate loads of people who come on the show and then say you have to be nice about Simon,” he added. (ANI)
