Sir Paul McCartney : Macca once wrote to Dalai Lama criticising his stand on eating meat

Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney has revealed that he once wrote to the Dalai Lama to criticise him for eating meat.
He said that he decided to write to Dalai Lama after he found out that the religious leader, who once said that Buddhists did not believe in “causing any suffering to any sentient beings”, was himself a non-vegetarian.
McCartney, 66, said that his letter was aimed at pointing out that there was some suffering involved even in eating animals.
“Then I found out he was not a vegetarian, so I wrote to him saying, ‘Forgive me for pointing this out, but if you eat animals then there is some suffering somewhere along the line,’” Times Online quoted him as telling political magazine Prospect.
“He replied saying that his doctors had told him he needed it, so I wrote back saying they were wrong,” he added. (ANI)
