According to a helper on the show named Sinitta, the tension between them is raging out of control. ”It’s getting worse as the weeks go by,” the Daily Star quoted her as saying. 

“I sit behind them as the show is going out and you can feel the tension between them. When we go to the ads it gets worse,” she added.

Minogue had claimed that Cowell was getting old and forgetful and needed cue cards. ”But it’s backfiring in her face,” Sinitta said. 

“Simon’s deliberately forgetting the name of her acts to undermine her. ”I wouldn’t be surprised if he pretends to forget her name this week!”

“Dannii’s annoyed because last year Simon was all over her and this year he hardly notices she’s there. ”She’s been openly criticising him on live telly, which is definitely not a good idea,” she added. (ANI)

Dr John Morgan, who runs the Yorkshire Centre for Eating Disorders in Leeds, said that for every man with an eating disorder there were 10 more who desperately wanted to change the way they looked.

“One in five young men have some degree of quite extreme distress,” BBC quoted him, as saying.

Morgan said that he had also seen a significant rise in the number of men with anorexia and bulimia.

The official estimate for the number of men with an eating disorder stands at around 10-15 percent of all sufferers, but actual figure is much higher.

“We know that 1 in 20 young people suffer from some degree of disordered eating and that at least 15 percent of them are men and yet that’s a tip of an iceberg,” he said.

“There are men who have problems with compulsive exercise and excessive bodybuilding who have an illness, but we haven’t defined them. Our definitions of illness have been focused on women, rather than men,” he added.
In 2000, a report for the Eating Disorder Association found that not enough was being done to help care for men with eating disorders.

Eight years on Morgan says that the situation has become worse.

“When the report was written there were some units that had dedicated expertise in male eating disorders. A couple of these have now closed down,” he said.

“There’s a lack of funding, a lack of interest. You’re dealing with a situation where you’re trying to develop a national service for men across the country, but the Health Service is now more focused on the local.”

According to Morgan, images of male beauty in the media are part of the problem, and that there’s now just as much pressure on young men to look slim as there is on women. (ANI)

The survey conducted by global market research company Synovate on more than 1,000 Malaysian women found that nearly 75 percent of women in Malaysia believe in “retail therapy”, saying shopping was therapeutic and a stress-reliever.

These women, in the age group of 15 to 64 years, belonged to all income levels. They were asked on their retail preferences and spending habits for clothing, accessories, skin care products and cosmetics as well as electronic gadgets.

Steve Murphy, Synovate Malaysia managing director claimed that 74 percent  of these women confessed that shopping was therapeutic and helped to relieve stress.

But, not all of them go overboard as they only spent 17 per cent of their monthly income on shopping.

“We found that Malaysian women hold back most of their income for savings, which is timely in the current economic situation,” The New Straits Times Online quoted Murphy, as saying.

The survey also gave a glimpse of the financial independence of Malaysian women, with almost half of the respondents saying that they could afford to pay for what they wanted without having to ask for money from their partners or husbands.

“We also made comparisons across the region and found that women in Hong Kong (87 per cent) were the most financially independent, followed by China (75 per cent) and Singapore (74 per cent),” said Murphy.

Most of the Malaysian women also believed that they were at par with their partners or husbands and more than two-thirds (68 per cent) acknowledged that they had an equal say in the purchase of big-ticket items such as property and cars.

However, women in Hong Kong (87 per cent) and China (76 per cent), were found to have a bigger say.

The results also indicated that Malaysian women did not compromise on quality when buying goods and services, what with a total of 640 women agreeing that they would pay extra for quality.

“The quality factor was confirmed again as we asked each respondent what would make them loyal to a retailer apart from lower prices,” said Murphy.

However, the survey said that the Malaysian women were environment savvy as 490 of the respondents were willing to pay more to buy environmental-friendly products. (ANI)

According to the researchers, the study might help in improving school safety.

In the study, 13,707 students participated – 6,664 (50.5 percent) were male and 7,193 (49.5 percent) were females.

Overall, 10.2 percent of males and 2.6 percent of females reported carrying a weapon on school property. An estimated 29.8 percent of males and 19.3 percent of females had carried weapons elsewhere.

The analysis, carried out by Emmanuel Rudatsikira and his colleagues, showed that the variables most associated with the carrying of weapons were being male and being a member of certain self-selected racial groups.

Researchers found that pupils who identified themselves as white were more likely to carry weapons than those who identified themselves as black.

“We do not believe that there are any inherent genetic differences that determine race and that affect the way that adolescents behave,” the authors said.

“We take the view that racial categorization has facilitated the distribution of social and economic resources that may consequently influence adolescent behaviours and perceptions toward violent behaviour,” they added.

The results were surprising. The researchers stated that as the poor are likely to live in violent neighbourhoods, they would be more likely to feel unsafe and therefore carry weapons to school.

“We would have expected that minorities such as African Americans, being largely disadvantaged in the United States, would be more likely to bear weapons.” Rudatsikira said.

“If black students felt less threatened at school, it’s less likely they’ll carry weapons. Alternatively, the schools they attend may be more vigilant in policing weapon carrying as a possible result of high violence and weapon bearing in black neighbourhoods,” he added.

Other factors linked to weapon carrying were substance use, depression, having been a victim of theft or property damage at school, having been raped, having been threatened with a weapon or having been involved in a physical fight.

The study is published in BioMed Central’s open access journal Annals of General Psychiatry. (ANI)

Sue Marks, a senior English teacher at Barker College on the North Shore, has revealed that remedial classes are being held to get students’ handwriting legible enough for Higher School Certificate examiners to read.

Dr. John Vallance, the headmaster of Sydney Grammar School, says that typed essays will not be accepted in the later years of high school.

He says that the school places a very strong emphasis on ensuring every student can write legibly.

“Handwriting is an important expression of a student’s personality, which is certainly not demonstrable through keyboarding. It’s a skill this generation should not lose,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Vallance as saying.

John Bennett, the general manager of the NSW Board of Studies that supervises the curriculum in schools, has revealed that they are not looking for any wholesale conversion from the use of pen to the use of keyboards, and “e-assessment” of exams.

“It is unlikely computers would be suitable for exams in all subjects, but we anticipate that in five years we will see computers used for some parts of some exams,” he said.

He says that the board has certain questions before it like whether such a change would be fair when some students from poorer households did not have easy access to computers; and whether such a system would be cheating-proof.

Educators are also concerned about the onslaught of technology-driven methods on the very process of learning and thinking amongst young people.

Barker’s Dr Marks said: “The process of writing – whether it be by hand, or on a computer keyboard – is closely connected with the process of thinking. Research points to the fact that thoughts are generated, not merely recorded, through the process of writing. So my fear, in relation to the rise of abbreviated forms adopted by many when emailing, text messaging and instant messaging, is that the capacity for deep thinking, fostered through writing, will be eroded.”

She said that it was not that writing using such technologies was inherently detrimental to deep thought.

“In my view, as society becomes more and more dependent upon technology, it will become increasingly important for clear and cohesive writing to be taught in schools,” she said.

“If this is not the case we run the risk of students’ writing – and thinking – reflecting their text-messaging practices and becoming little more than a series of truncated ideas. Many of today’s students are quite capable of sophisticated thought, but as grab-bites become the norm in modern communication technologies, it is vital that the skills involved in producing thoughtful, developed compositions, reflective of higher order thinking, are fostered in our schools,” she added.

Roslyn Arnold, an honorary professor of education and social work at the University of Sydney whose original PhD was on school children’s writing development, says while keyboarding does not necessarily have a detrimental effect on writing, just focusing on the speed of communicating may rob a student of the opportunity of deep reflective composing.

Students themselves are ambivalent about the issue.

“Your hand starts to kill after a while in exams,” says Marianthe Varipatis of Hurstville, a year 11 student at Bethany College.

“I’m so used to writing in exams, but it would be good if something like that (computer-based exams) came up,” she adds. (ANI)

According to UK research, men having the ability to cook is now a key factor in attracting women, along with salary, status, personality and appearance.

The increase in the number of women working full time has also contributed to the rise of the Gastrosexual male.

According to study’s researchers, the notion doesn’t hold true for African-American youth who are in the juvenile justice system.  For them, whether they internalized or externalized depended not on gender, but on what was happening within their families.

The finding of the study suggest that more attention needs to be paid to the intersection of race, gender and family when it comes to dealing with troubled youth, said Stephen Gavazzi, co-author of the study and professor of human development and family science at Ohio State University.

“If you look at most studies involving internalizing and externalizing among youth, they generally look at white, middle-class samples,” Gavazzi said.

“Most research has not paid attention to race.  And when studies do look at race, they are not likely to look at family and gender as well,” he added.

The study’s results revealed that Black girls and boys showed similar levels of externalizing and internalizing behavior, once family dysfunction was taken into account.

In these families, boys and girls were more likely to show outward aggression if they lived in families with higher levels of dysfunction.  Such a relationship was not found in white families.

This study, published in the July 2008 issue of the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy, involved 2,549 youth who appeared before a juvenile court in five counties in Ohio.

The youth were assessed using a measure developed by Gavazzi and his colleagues called the Global Risk Assessment Device (GRAD).  The measure is an internet-based assessment tool that asks youth a variety of questions to determine the risks they face for further problems in life.

GRAD asks about prior brushes with the law, family and parenting issues, substance abuse, traumatic events and a variety of other issues.  (ANI)

The study is published in the July issue of Archives of Dermatology, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.

“While the vast majority of individuals who are tattooed are pleased with their skin markings (up to 83 percent), the popularity and prevalence of tattoos often mean that dermatologists are increasingly hearing stories of regrets and requests for tattoo removal,” the researchers said.

About one-fifth of tattoo wearers are estimated to be dissatisfied with their tattoo, although only about 6 percent seek removal.

Myrna L. Armstrong, Ed.D., R.N., F.A.A.N., of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Lubbock, Texas, conducted a survey of 196 individuals who visited one of four dermatology clinics for tattoo removal in 2006.

The 66 men and 130 women (average age 30) answered 127 questions about demographics, obtaining their tattoo and their motivations for seeking removal. Their answers were compared with responses to a similar survey conducted in 1996.

“In both the 1996 and the 2006 studies, a shift in identity occurred, and removal centered around dissociating from the past,” the researchers said.

In 2006, participants reported they had gotten a tattoo to feel unique (44 percent), independent (33 percent) or to make life experiences stand out (28 percent).

The main reasons listed for seeking tattoo removal included just deciding to remove it (58 percent), suffering embarrassment (57 percent), lowering of body image (38 percent), getting a new job or career (38 percent), having problems with clothes (37 percent), experiencing stigma (25 percent) or marking an occasion, such as a birthday, marriage or newly found independence (21 percent).

The 2006 survey also found that participants were more likely to be women (69 percent vs. 31 percent men) who were white, single, college-educated and between the ages of 24 and 39. They reported being risk takers, having stable families and were moderately to strongly religious.

While the women were pleased with their tattoos when they got them, they reported changes in their feelings over the following one to five years.

“While men also reported some of these same tattoo problems leading to removal, there seemed to be more societal fallout for women with tattoos, as the tattoos began to cause embarrassment, negative comments and clothes problems and no longer satisfied the need for uniqueness,” the researchers said.

“Societal support for women with tattoos may not be as strong as for men. Rather than having visible tattoos, women may still want to choose self-controlled body site placement, even in our contemporary society,” they added. (ANI)

Madge, whose Sticky & Sweet world tour is commencing soon, has sacked two of her dancers in a fit. What’s more, her bad moods also have her tour manager threatening to walk out.

Along with rehearsals for her show not going well, her health has also started to deteriorate and doctors have discovered that Madge is anaemic, a definite sign that she is overdoing it.

The ‘Like a Virgin’ singer also suffered a painful knee injury and so she now has a doctor, physiotherapist and a chiropractor on duty during rehearsals for her forthcoming Sticky & Sweet world tour.

After having been told to take it easy she is now taking time out and resting in New York State’s Hamptons resort with close pal Gwyneth Paltrow.

The cause of her meltdown has been attributed to the crisis in her marriage to Guy Ritchie and allegations of a relationship between her and baseball star Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez.

The other blow came from her brother Christopher Ciccone, who penned a book about her. The strain has pushed her famous mood swings to terrifying new extremes.

“Madonna is doing less than OK. She has been rehearsing for the tour and she is totally miserable,” the Sun quoted a source in her camp as saying.

“She’s down physically and mentally. The situation with Guy is very, very tense. The way the press are going crazy with the A-Rod story, her brother’s book and her physical exhaustion are all taking their toll.

“Family tension with her father and two of her other siblings has also been awkward.

“She feels nobody has taken her side. One of her closest pals says she has never seen Madonna so low. She has been feeling low and looking really gaunt.

“Madonna was told to go soft on work and rehearsals, so she will now take one proper day off every week and go easy in the mornings.

“She has a blood analysis done every few days – including one during last Friday’s rehearsal in front of everyone,” the source added. (ANI)

Bale’s mother Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, have lodged a complaint against him in UK Police station after the actor alleged hit out at Park Lane’s swanky Dorchester Hotel – where he has a suite.

“We can confirm we have received allegation from another force in relation to an alleged incident in central London,” news.com.au quoted a Met Police spokesman, as saying.

The rumour has it that the movie Dark Knight is jinxed as some or the other controversy keeps on surrounding it.

Earlier this year Hollywood actor Heath Ledger who plays the arch-villain in the movie died of drug over dose and prior to the star’s death a special effects technician was killed in a stunt accident. (ANI)

The film is inspired by a real-life incident and examines the emotional turmoil of an eight-year-old boy and his father after they cross into India and are jailed, while the mother in Pakistan is left waiting to see their fate.

The film’s releases in India and Pakistan on August 1 will be a rare event considering political rivalry has limited cultural interaction between the two nuclear-armed nations.

Javed Jabbar produces the film.

Jabbar, whose daughter Mehreen directed “Ramchand Pakistani”, said Pakistan allowed filming to take place close to sensitive border areas in Sindh province while India let the crew visit a jail in Gujarat to maintain “visual and narrative authenticity”.

“It’s a very common phenomenon that lot of Indians cross into Pakistan by mistake. The film is set in the desert area of Thar, which borders Gujarat and Rajasthan and the border is very porous. Now there is a fence but in 2002 it was separated by rocks and pebbles so lot of cows strayed over to the other side and children would walk over it is very common,” said Mehreen.

Further, Mehreen said that the film showcases the plight of the prisoners who are caught between the rivalries of the two countries.

“It’s very human story, it’s about a family that’s separated. It is a very common story for both India and Pakistan. I think India has around 700 Pakistani prisoners while Pakistan has same amount of India prisoners. It’s important to raise awareness about the cases because they are lost in the system because of India and Pakistan’s relations. Sometimes they are good, sometimes they are okay and sometimes they are bad and these people get forgotten,” said Mehreen.

Bollywood actress Nandita Das, known for her roles in bold, unconventional productions, plays the mother in the film whose main characters are from Pakistan’s minority Hindu community.

Das, while speaking to the media said that the film was close to her heart because of the issues it deals with.

“The issue that it raises you know (that was the reason of signing the movie). You know we have so many mental barriers especially between India and Pakistan whether it is a cricket match, whether it’s a media report. So I think it’s a collaborative effort without making much hullabaloo about it, we are just working together,” said Das.

When Indian troops find the boy Ramchand and his father who comes looking for him, they suspect them of being spies.

Set partly in 2002 when tensions between the South Asian neighbors brought them close to war, the pair ends up in a grim jail where Ramchand spends his boyhood. His mother, meanwhile, has no way of knowing where her son and husband have gone.

Instances of innocent people, from India and Pakistan, being jailed for years after accidentally straying into each other’s territory are common. The two countries release such prisoners from time to time as a peace gesture.

But “Ramchand Pakistani”, made at a budget of 60 million Pakistani rupees (around $855,000), is a story about human emotions and didn’t set out to explore a solution to the bilateral problem, producer Jabbar said.

“Inevitably, we knew that there hopefully would be a positive impact, but it’s not deliberately conceived as a political film,” he explained.

Pakistan banned Indian films after going to war with India in 1965 but over the past few years, authorities have been allowing some Bollywood films to show in cinemas.

In April 2008, for the first time in years, a Pakistani film “Khuda Kay Liye” opened in Indian cinemas.

With “Ramchand Pakistani” about to follow suit, Jabbar believes it is a sign the Pakistani film industry may soon shed its reputation of making low-budget imitations of Bollywood fare.

The film is slated for release in India in Mid-August. (ANI)

The news that Lohan could have a half sister was revealed by 13-year-old Ashley Kaufmann’s mother, Kristi.

Kaufmann’s mother claimed that the teenager had been conceived during an affair she had with Michael Lohan in 1995, while he was separated from his ex-wife Dina.

In order to authenticate the claim made by Kristi, Michael Lohan underwent some tests, however Ashley is adamant she wants nothing to do with him even if it turns out that he is her father.

“I would love to meet my siblings, I’d love that, but not with him,” the Sun quoted her as telling TV show The Insider.

“It’s just weird knowing I have brothers and sisters who don’t even know that I exist,” she added. (ANI)

Ledger had made the will before Matilda’s birth, so its executors have now applied for probate in the West Australian Supreme Court in Perth, Daily Telegraph reported.

Even though in his will the late actor had bequeathed his immediate family, they have been advised that under WA law, that the toddler is entitled to receive the major portion of the estate.

But to do so her mother, actress Michelle Williams, will have to officially lodge a claim with the court supported by an affidavit, which according to legal experts could end up in the public domain.

The executors of Ledger’s estate, businessman Robert Collins and accountant Mark Dyson, late last week advertised in Perth’s daily newspaper for “creditors and other persons” having claims on the estate to lodge them by August 11.

This is to ensure all debts are paid before the estate is distributed, local lawyer Edwin Abdo revealed.

At the time of his death, the documents filed in a New York court after Ledger died in January, stated that he only had 145,000 dollars worth of assets in the US.

But it has now been revealed that his entire fortune, mostly held in Australian trusts, is likely to be worth up to 20 million dollars.

There were no comments from Mr Dyson on July 14 upon the matter. (ANI)

Kim Kardashian’s 24-year-old sister was sentenced for violating her probation back in March 2007, which had stemmed from a DUI charge.

“Khloe is ready and willing to serve out her sentence, no matter how long and where, and have this resolved,” E!online quoted her rep, Jeff Raymond, as saying in a statement July 14.

The fashion entrepreneur had been sentenced on August 27 to 36 months’ probation and community service with the California Department of Transportation.

She was further ordered to complete an alcohol-education program, after pleading no contest to driving under the influence on March 4, 2007, revealed Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office spokesman Frank Mateljan.

Her attorney admitted on July 3 in L.A. Superior Court in Van Nuys that she had not completed the alcohol class or the community service.

The younger Kardashian sister was ordered to reenrol in the programme, but the Caltrans part of her sentence was scrapped and she was ordered to spend 30 days behind bars, for violating the terms of her probation.

But with the jail in L.A. County being so overcrowded, the sentence could very well end up being for just three days.

Her offer to “surrender directly” to Lynwood County Jail was denied, as per court records obtained by E! News.

Instead, she’s scheduled to turn herself in July 18, after which she must start attending the alcohol class within 21 days of her release.

“Drinking and driving should be taken very seriously and unfortunately, Khloe had to learn the hard way,” mom Kris Jenner said in a statement.

“I hope Khloe will learn from her mistakes and I hope all of her brothers and sisters will learn from her actions and consequences. As always, we love and support our children,” her mom added.

And in the spirit of both sisterhood and information sharing, Kim Kardashian wrote on her personal blog July 15, regarding the situation.

“I have been getting asked all day if Khloe is going to jail. I know my fans rely on coming to my blog for the truth…,” Kim wrote.

“Khloe wants you to know she was sentenced to go to jail in regards to her one DUI case last year. Khloe is ready and willing to serve out her sentence, no matter how long and where, and have this resolved. I urge people to learn from the mistakes of others. Please drink responsibly and it’s never acceptable to drink and drive!” she added. (ANI)

That’s the conclusion of a new survey in which people blame their partner’s sleeping habits for the trend of sleeping in separate beds sometimes or having different rooms altogether for getting some shut-eye.

Forty per cent said snoring made sharing a bed or a room impossible, while 24 per cent blamed fidgeting and 13 per cent said getting up for the toilet was the most disruptive bedtime behaviour.

A fifth said they were more tired on a Monday than they were the previous week, while 54 per cent said they were more argumentative with their loved ones after a bad night’s sleep.

Many still feel tense from work and most are in the dark about how to wind down properly.

More than a third of those questioned blamed modern technology and working lifestyles for their restless sleeping.

Traditional remedies are being shunned.

Only three per cent have a hot milky drink, while only one per cent use a hot water bottle or take a warm bath. But 34 per cent prefer to watch TV to wind down.

Another finding from the survey of 2,480 adults by the Sominex sleeping tablets group is that despite having access to a partner for comfort at bedtime, many seek reassurance elsewhere.

Forty per cent admit cuddling a pillow, teddy bear or comfort blanket in bed.

“We have always found snoring to be a major cause of sleepless nights for couples. Getting a good night’s sleep is more important for a couple’s relationship than sharing a bed together,” the Daily Express quoted Jessica Alexander of The Sleep Council, as saying.

Sleep expert Dr Chris Idzikowski advised: “Avoid turning bedrooms into entertainment centres with TVs, computers and stereos – and invest in good curtains or blinds.” (ANI)

The animal rights group has urged the supermodel-turned-actress not to use meat in her upcoming food range and cookery books, reports Contactmusic.

The group wrote her a letter after learning she intends to launch her own range of low-fat organic food, which will include ingredients sourced from her 400-acre farm in Gloucestershire, England – including a litter of piglets.

In the letter, PETA Vice President Bruce Friedrich writes: “Just as we hope Ms. Hurley would be hesitant to ship her dog off to slaughter, we hope she will pause to think before killing the pigs and other animals she is caring for on her farm.

“With so many healthy and delicious vegetarian options available, there’s no reason for Ms. Hurley – or anyone else – to betray her animal friends,” he added. (ANI)

The finding is based on a new study by Institute for Fiscal Studies, which found that 35.2 per cent of girls and 28 per cent of boys born in August are likely to get a higher education.

In contrast, 37 per cent of girls and 29.6 per cent of boys born in September are likely to go to university.

In addition to this, the researchers also found that August-born kids were also much less likely to go to top universities like Oxford or Cambridge.

The study, say researchers, is important as it shows that the differences could cause potentially damaging long-term consequences for August-born children.

“These findings underline the potentially damaging long-term education and labour market consequences faced by August-born children, simply because they were unlucky enough to be born at the end of the school year,” The Independent quoted lead author Claire Crawford, as saying. (ANI)

As a part of the study into children’s peer relationships, researchers observed 97 students in six preschool classrooms in an urban southwest area of the United States.

Using a new quantitative procedure called the Q-connectivity method, the boffins repeatedly assessed kids’ peer interactions to determine how many peers the children interacted with and how often those interactions took place.

They did this to study the relationship between children’s ability to establish and maintain relationships with peers and their tendency to display physical aggression, anger, and attention problems.

Based on the data collected, the authors state that aggressive, angry, and inattentive children tended to play with fewer peers repeatedly over time than their non-aggressive classmates, who were more successful at interacting frequently with many classmates over time.

The study, the researchers state, is important as it suggests that as early as preschool, aggressive children have less consistent relationships with their peers.

It appears in the July/August 2008 issue of the journal Child Development. (ANI)

His outspokenness and role in driving up player salaries have made him one of the sport’s most controversial figures, though his willingness to spend to build the club (and its post-season success since 1976) have earned him grudging respect from some baseball executives, while at the same time earning him contempt from some fans. He is known as a hands-on executive, earning the nickname “The Boss”. His tendency to hire and fire (and occasionally re-hire) managers led then-Yankees skipper Dallas Green to give him the derisive nickname “Manager George”.

During Steinbrenner’s ownership since 1973, the longest in club history, the Yankees have earned 10 pennants and six World Series titles.

The Boss has had his share of controversies also. He famous for both his pursuit of high-priced free agents and, in some cases, infamous for feuding with them. In his first 23 seasons, he changed managers 20 times (including dismissing Billy Martin on five separate occasions), and general managers 11 times in 30 years. In July 1978, Martin said of Steinbrenner and his $3 million outfielder Reggie Jackson, “The two were meant for each other. One’s a born liar, and the other’s convicted.” The comment resulted in Martin’s first departure, though technically Martin resigned (tearfully), before Yankees President Al Rosen followed through on Steinbrenner’s dictum to release the manager.

Sony maintains its stranglehold in Japan, in part because of the popularity of the epic role playing game.

Final Fantasy XIII is the flagship title of the Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII collection. The game takes place in the same universe as Final Fantasy Agito XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII, although they are not directly related to each other.[5] Motomu Toriyama, who was Director of Final Fantasy X-2 and Director and Scenario Writer of Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, will direct the game. This game will be his first main installment Final Fantasy game as Director

The game runs on the Crystal Tools engine, an all-new seventh generation multiplatform game engine built by Square Enix for their future games. Both the engine and the game were originally slated to be used with the PlayStation 2 but were later moved to the PlayStation 3.

The engine handles advanced audio processing, cinematic cut-scene transition, physics effects calculations and special effects rendering. The Crystal Tools reportedly uses four of the six developer-available synergistic processing elements (SPEs) of the Cell Broadband Engine Architecture microprocessor to achieve near-pre-rendered CGI quality in realtime. Square Enix has licensed Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3 to use on a number of other upcoming current generation titles, but will still use Crystal Tools for Final Fantasy XIII.

The E3 convention, open only to members of the media and gaming industry, has been used as a platform for breaking big video game news for over a decade. Sony and Nintendo will have separate press conferences later in the week and are also expected to make big announcements.

British government’s plans on expansion of maternity leave and parents’ rights is forcing corporates or business organisations to rethink recruiting women of childbearing age.

Ms Nicola Brewer, the chief executive of Britain’s Equalities and Human Rights Commission said that there is a strong argument to rethink family policy.

She said that the commission’s helpline had been contacted by women who had lost their jobs after falling pregnant and blamed the new rights for their situations.

Currently women are entitled to nine months of paid leave, but that will soon extend up to on year.

According to the Times, business leaders are condemning new maternity laws, insisting that it is creating problems in workforce planning.

Earlier this year entrepreneur Sir Alan Sugar claimed many employers are rejecting the CVs of women of childbearing age.

Moreover, these benefits have failed to hasten a social revolution where both parents were equally responsible for caring for their family.

In Britain, fathers are entitled to just two weeks of leave compared with 52 for mothers.

“There has been a sea change on maternity leave and flexible work and we welcome that,” The Australian quoted Brewer, as saying.

“But the effect has been to reinforce some traditional patterns. The Work and Families Act has not freed parents and given them real choice.

“It is based on assumptions, and some of the terms reinforce the traditional pattern of women as the carers of children.

“The thing I worry about is that the current legislation and regulations have had the unintended consequence of making women a less attractive prospect to employers,” she added.

While the latest legislation allows for the last six months of maternity leave to be transferred to the father if the mother goes back to work earlier, Brewer said that provision missed the point.

“The way it is framed means it is up to the women to transfer the leave to the man. It is not his right,” she said.

Katherine Rake, director of the Fawcett Society, which campaigns for equality between women and men, said that she shared the commission’s concerns about the effect of legislation on women’s careers. (ANI)

In an interview at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor, Cook accompanied by new girlfriend Suzanne Shaw said that though his reputation is in tatters, but he doesn’t regret his doomed marriage with supermodel Brinkley.

“Intelligent people understand that we are all imperfect, that we all have flaws. Short of Mother Teresa, the Pope and Gandhi, no one really wants every dark corner of their life exposed to the world, and certainly not to their children,” he said.

This was the first time he spoke publicly since the trial ended last week that saw him weeping on the stand while confessing his sexual shenanigans, which included spending 3,000 dollars a month on Internet pornography and masturbating live for a cyberaudience via Web Cam.

Still, he could joke about the headline-making trial, which ended with a settlement perceived by many as a victory for Brinkley.

And when asked what he was looking for in his next relationship, he replied, “A brunette.”
