Charlize Theron: Theron says “My ability to get married is a piece of me”!

South Africa-born Charlize Theron thinks US ban on gay marriage is another “form of apartheid”. “My ability to get married is a piece of me that I wish I could give to somebody who it would mean so much to. We should all have the chance. It’s just so caveman, I can’t believe we’re still talking about it,” she added.

The Oscar-winning actress revealed that she was “bothered” that her adopted country failed to legalise same-sex unions.

Charlize said it was this “caveman” approach which reminded her of her native country’s past apartheid laws, which marked a distinctive line between whites and non-whites.

“I don’t like living in an elitist world, it bothers me. I don’t want to be part of an elitist sexual preference,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

“It bothers me, maybe it’s because I come from a country where I lived under apartheid but this is a form of apartheid and I don’t want to be a part of that. (ANI)

Hollywood actress Charlize Theron has revealed that she is keen to have kids of her own with lover Stuart Townsend, but is in no hurry to get pregnant.

The ‘That Thing You Do’ actress says that though she has always wanted to become a mom one day, she just can’t tell it right now when that day would come, reports the China Daily.

“I’ve always known that I wanted to be a mom. I love children. I’ve always loved children. But I’m not like, ‘Oh my god, I really must have kids right now.’ I’ve never felt this pressing urge that some biological clock is ticking. We both want to be parents one day, but I’ve no idea when that will be,” Charlize said.

Theron also says that she is grateful to have found a loving partner like Stuart, who has added meaning to her life.

“Since I’ve been with Stuart, my vulnerability has become something I’m more comfortable with. I think there’s a part of me that is very much a survivor. I don’t know if it was in my genes, I don’t know what it is. But I guess being young and starting out in a sense of, ‘I’m not going to be a wallflower, and I’m not going to be messed with.’ That was the only way I knew how to survive at that time. But all that has changed since I’ve been with Stuart. I don’t feel like I’m in survival mode any more. I feel like it’s OK, I can breathe, so I’m very grateful to him,” Charlize told Marie Claire magazine. (ANI)

Charlize Theron’s fans will get to see her a lot more onscreen, all thanks to a new film ‘The Burning Plain’.

In the flick, the actress has shown off her twin assets while dressed in a bathrobe and wet hair.

The film is the directorial debut of Guillermo Arrigadrama and also stars actor Kim Basinger, reports the Sun.

This is, however, not the first time the Oscar-winning actress has peeled off onscreen.

The ‘Hancock’ actress has previously stripped off for roles in ‘The Devil’s Advocate’ and ‘Head in the Clouds’ in which she played the lover of Spanish actress Penelope Cruz. (ANI)

Charlize Theron : Theron finds stripping easier than portraying ‘raw emotion’ onscreen

Charlize Theron finds it easier to drop her clothes than portray ‘a raw emotion’ on screen.

“‘The Burning Plain’” star insisted that conveying emotions during a scene could end up being more challenging than the mere act of peeling layers, reports China Daily.

She said: “Being naked is one of those things I think people think of in an isolated, compartmentalised way, but sometimes it’s harder to do a scene where you have to bear a raw emotion of pain or vulnerability.

“That kind of nakedness is sometimes much harder than taking your clothes off.”

The Oscar-winning actress further added she would not mind putting on a director hat since she loved the totality of the filming experience.

She said: “If you’ asked me ten years ago if I would produce, I probably would have said, ‘You’re crazy.’ But it’s become one of those things that the older I’ve gotten and the more I’ve done this, the more I realise I love film making.

“It’s not the idea of playing a role and showing up and just acting and doing my thing, it’s the collaborative aspect of it that I really love.” (ANI)

The Oscar-winning actress has crammed some remarkably varied roles into her career, from ‘The Devil’s Advocate’, to ‘Monster’, to ‘Hancock’, to ‘The Italian Job’ to ‘North Country’.

And Theron insists that for her, variety is certainly the spice of life.

“I love doing what I do because I love movies,” Sky News quoted her, as saying.

“For me it’s not one of those things where I feel I have to do that because of some hidden agenda, it’s just because I purely love all different kinds of genres, and there is something refreshing about not doing the same thing back to back,” she added. (ANI)

Hollywood actress Charlize Theron is keen to learn Spanish, after she learnt to abuse in the language while filming her forthcoming flick.

The ‘That Thing You Do’ actress was taught a few swear words by Mexican director Guillermo Arriaga, while they were filming the ‘The Burning Plain’ together.

Theron is now said to be desperate to learn the language, and pick up some basic phrases in the language.

“Of course he taught me the dirty stuff! I had this fantasy, ‘cos I’ve always wanted to learn Spanish, that I would learn Spanish before I shot the movie with him, that he would be really impressed with me, that he could direct me in Spanish but of course it never happened,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

“I’m really embarrassed to say that I don’t speak Spanish, I’ve lived in California for eight years and I just think it should be a prerequisite, you should be able to speak Spanish if you live in California,” she added. (ANI)

Charlize Theron : Theron left red-faced on TV as ex-dance teacher revealed her childhood antics

Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron’s former dance teacher left her red-faced on a British chat show by talking about her embarrassing childhood habits over the phone.

It happened when broadcasters Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan were interviewing the ‘Monster’ star on March 5.

According to reports, the talk show was going smoothly until the programme’s producers made a surprise call to Theron’s former dance teacher Bernice Lloyd in her native South Africa.

“Charlize was a wonderful child. She was always so beautiful and so disciplined and always, always showed entrepreneurial skills,” the Daily Express quoted Bernice as saying.

“She always had these entrepreneurial skills and she used to buy sweets from the school tuck shop and sell them at night to hungry children for a profit. We thought it was wonderful – we, her teachers, thought that showed gumption (initiative),” she added.

Theron, who was mortified by the revelation, then exclaimed: “Oh my god, Bernice! This in insane! I don’t remember selling candy at a profit! I did start drinking at a very early age, so my memory is a bit dodgy.” (ANI)

Charlize Theron would not think twice if offered a comedy role since the actress feels she needs to break away from the “doom and gloom” movie stereotype.

The ‘Monster’ star, who bagged on Oscar for her portrayal of serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the film, revealed she felt she was being typecast and would hence love to involve herself in more light hearted projects.

“I’m starting to figure that if there’s a woman in a ‘doom and gloom’ scenario, my name comes up… the next one has to be a comedy,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

The former model further unwrapped her ambitions of doing a musical, saying: “I’ve always let it be known that I would love to do a musical. I love going to ballet, it’s very cathartic.”

Theron was named the sexiest woman alive by fashion bible Esquire last year.

She was also in news for being appointed as the United Nations Messenger Of Peace for her contribution in ending violence against women. (ANI)

Oscar winner Kate Winslet has laughed off Hugh Hefner’s offer to bare all for Playboy, insisting she isn’t sexy enough to grace the cover.

Magazine mogul Hefner had revealed he would love to have the ‘The Reader’ star join previous posers including Marilyn Monroe, Sharon Stone, Pamela Anderson and Charlize Theron.

However, the 33-year-old actress has denied the offer to grace the men’s magazine’s cover.

“This is not a proposal that would interest her,” Contactmusic quoted her spokesperson as saying.

And when website TMZ.com told the actress of Hefner’s offer, she replied: “I have no idea what you’re talking about. I don’t believe that for one second!” she said. (ANI)

‘Slumdog Millionaire’ star Freida Pinto wants to be known for her acting skills, rather than ” just a pretty face”.

In an interview to Hello! magazine, the 24-year-old Mumbai girl said she is determined not to be typecast on account of her looks, and is eager to play challenging roles.

“I don’t want to be known as just a pretty face. I loved Charlize Theron in Monster. I want to play parts that are challenging and inspiring,” the Telegraph quoted her as saying.

“Slumdog is about destiny, and my personal journey through this film has made me realise the power of destiny.

“Planning doesn’t hurt, but it’s wonderful to know that sometimes life has bigger plans for you than you had for yourself,” she added.

Pinto also revealed that she cried the first time she watched the critically acclaimed film.

“I cried the first time I watched it. It’s a very grounded film. I can honestly say it communicates the pulse of this vibrant city,” she said.

“Danny has done away with the cliches and shows India developing at a rapid pace.

“The way Mumbai doesn’t try to hide its highs or its lows is a vital part of its character. The poor and rich live among each other, and its slums are as much part of it as the beautiful structures that adorn it,” she added. (ANI)

Cancer telethon for Streep, Theron and Aniston

Hollywood actresses Meryl Streep, Charlize Theron and Jennifer Aniston are set to appear in a Stand Up To Cancer telethon in an attempt to raise money for cancer research and treatment.

The live fundraising broadcast will be simultaneously shown on US TV networks ABC, CBS and NBC on September 5.

Other celebrities to appear on the telethon include Scarlett Johansson, Christina Applegate, America Ferrera and Sally Field, reports China Daily..

“As a motion picture and television producer, I’ve learned how incredibly powerful these mediums can be in generating public discourse, sometimes almost overnight. Our goal with this initiative and TV show is to ‘tip’ the conversation in this country about cancer – to get people riled up, so they want to do something about the fact that it still takes so many lives,” Cancer survivor and producer of the telethon, Laura Ziskin was quoted as saying.

Raymond N DuBois, Executive Vice President at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, added: “The Stand Up To Cancer model is distinctive because it emphasises collaboration among scientists and will accelerate translational research on the verge of breakthroughs as well as provide an additional revenue stream to encourage novel, high-risk proposals that have great potential in making inroads against cancer.” (ANI)

Actress Charlize Theron says that she wants to lead her life as a good-natured person, and not be a pin-up.

“I don’t think I want to be a pin-up for anything. The people who inspire me are the ones who just live life and live it in a way that’s good natured. Do unto others what you want done unto yourself,” the Daily Telegraph quoted her as saying.

“Enjoy life, travel, adventure. Enjoy. I try to just live my life in as good and authentic a way as possible. And I just wish people would write about that and the matter-of-fact way that that is, rather than: ‘On a summer’s day, her mother shot her father,’” she added.

She further said: “I live my life the way I want to. I have chosen this life. I want to be able to go to sleep at night and feel that I’m not haunted and I’m happy, and that I enjoy my friends and my love, and that if this is all gone tomorrow, that it was good.”

While Theron’s beauty and way of talking has the sort of charisma that works both on men and women, she does not believe in charmed lives.

“I don’t believe in charmed lives. I think that tragedy is part of the lesson. You learn to lift yourself up, to pick yourself up and to move on,” she said. (ANI)

South African beauty Charlize Theron admits that she would love to start a family with beau Stewart Townsend.

The Oscar winner tells Britain’s Elle magazine that she would be over the moon if she found out she was expecting, reports Contactmusic.

“I’d be delighted if I found out I was pregnant tomorrow,” she said.

And while she doesn’t know when there will be an addition to her family, she’s certain it will happen.

Another thing that she’s absolutely certain about is who her baby’s father is going to be.

“I know I’m going to be a mother. And Stuart will be our baby’s father. That is something I’m sure of,” she said. (ANI)
