Carla Bruni performs live with Metallica on ‘Later… with Jools Holland’

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, the wife of the French President, recently performed live together with rock bands Metallica and Kings of Leon.

Recording her song “Tu Es Ma Came” on BBC’s ‘Later… with Jools Holland’, the former supermodel evoked Parisian cafes with her signature breathy chanson style, while Metallica gave its thrilling heavy metal performance.

The 40-year-old singer was given a warm reception while the crowd cheered for Metallica.

During the interview, the French first lady also confessed bothering her significant other when she played in the middle of the night.

“I play it at home and I disturb him with it in the middle of the night,” BBC quoted her, as saying.

“But he’s very kind and he listens to all my doubts,” she added. (ANI)

John Edwards’ affair with Rielle Hunter a reality: no love, only sex?

In a breaking news on ABC, former U.S. senator John Edwards has reportedly admitted of having an extramarital affair with Rielle Hunter. He was being interviewed by ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff. He also informed that though he did have an affair with the 44 year old lady, it did not last for long. He denied being the father of her child and also categorically informed that he did not love her.

According to the ABC website “Edwards met her at a New York city bar in 2006. His political action committee later paid her $114,000 to produce campaign website documentaries despite her lack of experience.Edwards said the affair began during the campaign after she was hired. Hunter traveled with Edwards around the country and to Africa.”

Edwards informed that his wife and other family members knew about the affair in 2006. He also said that he has never paid any money to her.

In July, I had written about the news that John Edwards was caught visiting his mistress and secret love child at 2:40 this morning in a Los Angeles hotel. I am contented that at least he is speaking about it – being a man!

Although he has admitted the affair and come out in open, it seems that he is not clearly forthcoming on certain related issues. By being selectively open like this, he will not be able to stop the rumor mill as he might wish. On the other hand, he would alienate not only his wife but also his mistress. This admittance sounds a death knell for his political career anyway.

The Paris Hilton ad for the president has evoked a enthusiastic response in the people tired of election campaigns, mindless allegations and never ending debates. Its a good break from the monotony of election commotion. Although it is not the first time, the political spoofs are being played; getting Paris Hilton in the game is definitely significant.

The ad campaign shows Paris Hilton coolly sitting on a pool side looking hot in her leopard bikini and nice golden shoes. She says “”I want America to know that I’m totally ready to lead.” She suggested an energy plan which was a hybrid of the plan proposed by MaCain and Obama and recommended Rihanna for the vice president candidate. Instead of creating a ruckus over the advertisement, Paris Hilton has taken a remarkably intelligent shot at McCain which he will find difficult to reply. [Newspostonline]

Most of the people who saw the ad were impressed by the way Paris pulled it off. She appeared quite convincing and made sure the ad achieved what it was targeting. It was a spoof all right, but it made Obama & McCain and their debates look like a child’s play.

Imagine what would happen if she actually becomes the president of the USA? For sure, there would not be any money allocated for Wars and battles, which will instead come to the domestic economy. She would visit with other celebrities (we have dozens, in any case) to Iraq and Afghanistan and terrorists would surrender just to be able to hold talks with them. The late night parties can also be given away as incentives to quit Laden’s team.

The oil prices will come down drastically, if all the Sheikhs of the Arab world be given an opportunity to dance in Britney spears video or participate in Madonna’s world tour or be a part the James Bond movie.

The world will be a happier place as TV channels won’t show the boring white house faces anymore, which will be replaced by Hiltons, Spears and Rihannas of the world. Kids will become very knowledgeable as they will exactly remember the names and biographies of the presidents, vice presidents, mayors and others right till their third generations.

The most powerful impact will be on entertainment oriented channels and sites which will see their viewer ship booming while BBC and CNN may have to shutdown or taken over by E!

Ending this article, in keeping with the same spirit, I now propose Brangelina kids’ Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline for the posts of President and Vice President of the country. I am sure world’s youngest millionaires’ business acumen and tremendous early success will help drive the slow economy. Amen!

Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus, who will be hosting the Teen Choice Awards with Kate Perry has refused to mimic the Madonna-Britney Spears kiss with Perry.

The “I kissed a girl” hitmaker Kate Perry revealed her plans of snagging a same sex smooch with the teen star in an interview. However, when confronted with Perry’s idea Cyrus laughed off the idea.

“No thanks,” E! Online quoted Cyrus, as saying.

“She sang on my record, so I think she’’s kind of getting back at me, because she was doing harmonies and backgrounds,” the actress added. The teen sensation, who has been constantly promoting her new hit album Breakout, and her upcoming gig at the Teen Choice Awards, has revealed her plans of taking a break from Hollywood to go to College.

“I was online the other day looking at colleges, I want to go in London, I”d like to do fashion and then photography,” Cyrus said. As for her birthday plans the star doesn’t seem to be in the party mode.

Winehouse rushed to hospital after reaction to medication

Troubled singer Amy Winehouse was rushed to hospital following an adverse reaction to medication on Monday.

The ‘Rehab’ star was taken by an ambulance from her home to University College Hospital in Bloomsbury.

“Please be advised that Amy Winehouse suffered a reaction to medication at home this evening and was taken to the hospital,” E! Online quoted her rep Tracey Miller, as saying.

“Doctors have advised that she will be kept under observation overnight and is likely to be released tomorrow,” she added.

According to SplashNewsOnline, eyewitnesses said that the 24-year-old singer was escorted from the premises in a wheelchair.

Winehouse’s father Mitch told fans: “She’s just mixed up her medication,” reports the Sun.

Winehouse’s rep, also clarified her father’s initial remarks that the songtress was suffering from emphysema, insisting that the Grammy winner was showing early stage symptoms of the chronic respiratory disease. (ANI)

‘Catch Me If You Can‘ star Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way is in talks to bring the ‘Twilight Zone’ back to cinemas.

The actor is reportedly looking for material to create an enhanced version of the hit TV series Twilight Zone, which has earlier been made into a film back in 1983.

Caprio, who loved the Twilight TV series as a kid, plans to treat cinemagoers with an updated version of the cult sci-fi show, reports Contactmusic.

The Twilight Zone TV series have been remade a number of times, the most recent being a low-budget 2002 series by U.S. TV network UPN narrated by Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker. (ANI)

John Edwards meets Rielle Hunter and their love child. Now What?

Vice Presidential candidate Sen. John Edwards was caught visiting his mistress and secret love child at 2:40 this morning in a Los Angeles hotel reports NATIONAL ENQUIRER. He did not leave until Monday morning.

Well, the moral police is out there to scream and preach what Edwards oughts to do and what he does not especially in the light of the fact that his his wife is pregnant. Self-proclaimed experts are speculating that John Edwards can now probably kiss his Vice presidential prospects with Barack Obama good-bye now. (bloggernews)

Another issue left untouched is of immediate concern – is this news correct? I mean we have not seen the documentary evidence like photos or videos yet. Let’s wait for some more time before giving out the verdict.

In case the story is true, this is not the crime against humanity and its not the first time it has happened. We have had such presidents before and I won’t judge Edwards solely on this issue but on his capabilty at being a competent leader and Vice President. However, it is not ethical on his part as he is cheating both the women – his wife and his mistress – and his kids.

I believe if he comes out in the open, takes responsibility of his doings and promises for a better him, there would be a lot of support for him. May he takes the tougher albeit better path!

Natalie Cole diagnosed with Hepatitis C

Singer Natalie Cole has confirmed that she is suffering from the chronic liver disease Hepatitis C.

The 58-year-old made the announcement after she was forced to pull out of a gig in California due to the disease.

It is believed that she contracted the disease during the 80s when she was heavily into drugs.

In a statement, her US publicist confirmed the disease and said that Cole was turning to her family and friends for supports, reports the Mirror.

“I am embraced by the love and support of my family and friends. I am committed to my belief in myself and in my abiding faith to meet this challenge with heartfelt optimism and determination,” she said.

According to her doctor, Grammy Award winner is responding very well to treatment, with her virus now in the negative, giving her a better chance of being cured completely.

Other celebs to have contracted the disease include former Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson, ex hubby Tommy Lee, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and Larry Hagman, aka Dallas’ JR. (ANI)

Watch Ethel Waters’ ‘Cabin in the Sky’ tonight on TCM

As per the schedule of TCM here, viewers will get to see ‘Cabin in the sky‘ – A 1943 motion picture based on an American Broadway Musical of the same name.The film was produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

The movie was directed by Vincente Minnelli and starred Ethel Waters as Petunia and Eddie “Rochester” Anderson as Little Joe. Lena Horne co-starred as the temptress Georgia Brown in her first and only leading role in an MGM musical. Other cast members included Louis Armstrong as one of Lucifer Junior’s minions, Rex Ingram as Lucifer Junior, and Duke Ellington and his Orchestra, who have a showcase musical number.

The plot of the movie is pretty interesting. It is about a man who is killed over gambling debts. He has six months time to redeem his soul and become worthy of entering Heaven, failing which it will be sent to hell. Cabin in the Sky was a groundbreaking production for its time due to the decision to use an all-African-American cast. It is also remarkable for its intelligent and witty script, which treated its characters and their race with a dignity rare in American films of the time.

The lead actress Ethel Waters used to perform jazz, big band, rock and roll and pop music, on the Broadway stage and in concerts. Her best-known recording was her version of the spiritual, “His Eye is on the Sparrow”, and she was the second African American ever nominated for an Academy Award.

SOC review says ” It was parable of faith, temptation, loyalty, and salvation in the imagined life of American black people, told as a musical play by black actors and white studio filmmakers at MGM in the middle of World War II. The film is at the centre of the six all-black cast films made by the major Hollywood studios”

When it comes to temptations, the two sexes react differently, says a new study, which determined that men tend to look at their partners in a more negative light after meeting a single, attractive woman, whereas, women are likelier to work to strengthen their current relationships after meeting a ‘hottie’.

According to study, which is published in the July issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, men may not see their flirtations with an attractive woman as threatening to the relationship while women do.

Researchers found that women protect their relationship more when an attractive man enters the picture but men look more negatively at their partner after they”ve met an available, attractive woman.

Lead author of the study, John E. Lydon, PhD, of McGill University in Montreal said that men can learn to resist temptation when trained to think that flirting with an attractive woman could destroy their relationship.

To reach the conclusions, the scientists conducted seven laboratory experiments using 724 heterosexual men and women to see how college-aged men and women in serious relationships react when another attractive person enters the mix.

In one study, 71 unsuspecting male participants were individually introduced to an attractive woman. Roughly half the men met a “single” woman who flirted with them. The other half met an “unavailable” woman, who simply ignored them.

Immediately after this interaction, the men filled out a questionnaire in which they were asked how they would react if their “romantic partner” had done something that irritated them, such as lying about the reason for canceling a date or revealing an embarrassing tidbit about them.

Men who met the attractive “available” woman were 12 percent less likely to forgive their significant others. In contrast, 58 women were put in a similar situation. These women, who met an “available” good-looking man, were 17.5 percent more likely to forgive their partners” bad behavior.

Using virtual reality scenarios in the last experiment, the researchers wanted to see if 40 men could learn not to flirt when mingling with attractive women if they formed a plan or strategy beforehand.

The researchers prompted half the male subjects in this experiment to visualize being approached by an attractive woman. They were then instructed to write down a strategy to protect their relationship.

These men were more likely to distance themselves from an attractive woman in the subsequent virtual reality scenarios. Lydon says women, on the other hand, don”t need to be trained to withhold any reactions when approached by attractive men. (ANI)

Jay-Z imagines his audience naked during shows!

Like all performers American rapper Jay-Z also has his nervous moments, but he makes things easy for himself by imagining that his audience is naked.

Jay-Z, who had made headlines with his performance at the Glastonbury festival last month, revealed that he is not bothered with how many people are watching him, for in his head they all appear nude.

“They’re just people. Don’t matter if it’s 11 people or 11,000. I just imagine them naked,” China Daily quoted him as saying.

The 38-year-old rapper also revealed that he was surprised by the size of the site for the Glastonbury music event.

“What was breathtaking was the entrance to Glastonbury, when you come over the hill and you see those tents. I was actually in the bathroom of the bus at the time,” he told Britain’s The Observer Music Monthly magazine.

“Everyone was like, ‘Oh my God! Come out! You’ve got to come out now!’ I was like, ‘Wait a minute. This isn’t a festival. This is a country! This is tent city.’ That’s when it stopped being just a concert,” he added. (ANI)

American actress and model Megan Fox revealed that she would like to do a movie in which she will be entirely nude.

The 22-year-old Transformers star was reported by Daily Star to have said that she would like to be able to do a movie in which she is naked from the start to the end.

“I would love to do a movie naked – it would be beautiful. No one dares make that kind of film today,” NZPA quoted her as having told the tabloid.

“They did it in the 1930s in an arty way, so why not now?” she added.

Posh and Becks’ American dream goes ‘kaput’

They ruled the roost in the UK, but the Beckhams’ dream of doing the same in America has reportedly soured.

And, it’s not only their dream, but also their relationship that’s on the slide, what with arguments breaking out at the drop of a hat whenever they sit down to discuss where to head next.

Their gloom is making its presence felt even in their latest snapshots, with David, 33, and Victoria, 34, avoiding looking at each other.

“Even with all their cash, it appears the La-La Land dream has finally soured,” Daily Star quoted a source, as saying.

“They are finding out that money can’t buy you good friends, publicity – or personal happiness.” Posh is of course also reportedly smarting from newspaper stories that her footie hubby was seen exchanging sexy glances with a brunette while driving and ogling at cheerleaders.

Also worrying is that Becks has taken to driving around alone at night. A source said: “Victoria was livid when she found out that David had been driving around Hollywood without a bodyguard. The very thought made her sick with worry.

“She brought it up as soon as she saw him and the discussion rumbled on over dinner at Il Sole. He would never put her or the children at risk but she wants him to understand that he needs to look after his own safety, too. Victoria worries that now David’s football career isn’t as high-octane as it was before, he’s getting his kicks by getting into car chases with photographers.”

Bosses tell Megan Fox to fatten up for Transformers sequel

Skinny American actress Megan Fox has been ordered to put on weight to secure her role in the next Transformer movie.

The role required for her to put on weight and to fill out her frame, adding a few more curves to her already sexy body.

The second instalment of the Transformers movie require Fox to gain 10 pounds in three weeks for her role, after she had dramatically and dangerously lost weight for her last film, ‘Jennifer’s Body’.

“I should have toned up for ‘Transformers’ but I’m really lazy. I had to put on weight,” Daily Telegraph quoted her as saying.

It seems unbelievable, but former ‘ABBA’ member Bjorn Ulvaeus can’t remember the band’s Eurovision song contest triumph with their song ‘Waterloo’, which earned them fame in 1974.

The 58-year-old Swedish musician, who married and divorced blonde co-singer Agnetha Faltskog, even admits that he does not remember much of his life since the band became famous.

“It’s unbelievable but I do not remember standing on the stage. It’s like I was not even there,” the Mirror quoted him as saying.

“People ask me if I am going to write my memoirs but, even if I wanted to, I would not be able. I have extremely few memories.

“Many remember that moment, where they were, what they did, even how they felt. But not me,” he added. Ulvaeus has, however, not given any indication as to what might have caused his memory loss.

The other ‘Posh-inspired’ celebrities to chop off the crop include the stylish Spice Girl’s ‘good-pal’ Katie Holmes, who went to the short hair look last year.

Paris Hilton showed off her newly shorn locks a month after Posh relocated to Los Angeles and soon Anne Hathaway, Gwyneth Paltrow, Hayden Panettiere and other celebs followed suit.

Pierce Brosnan thinking of retiring in Hawaii

Having done with chasing enemies round the world, former James Bond Pierce Brosnan is reportedly planning to hang up his acting shoes and settle down on the island of Hawaii.

While he works through his immediate plans to return to shore to send his two sons to school, Brosnan has already admitted that the oasis is tempting him to think of an early acting hiatus.

The 49-year-old ‘Material Girl’ hitmaker was even planning to fuel even more rumors by cheering A-Rod on All-Star game at Yankee Stadium.

“She, [manager] Guy Oseary and some friends have tickets and are planning on going,” New York Post quoted a source, as saying.

“She doesn’t care about the press it will get – she loves it. It just gets her more publicity for her upcoming Sticky and Sweet tour,” the source, as saying.

Madonna and her movie-making husband Guy Ritchie have lately been putting on a show of unity amidst rumors of a marriage break-up, and have been acting like a strong couple since news broke that not only was A-Rod’s wife, Cynthia, divorcing him, but that she claims he’d had an “affair of the heart” with the singer.

Madonna, who has been actively trying to get A-Rod into Kabbalah, denies any affairs with the slugger.

“Cynthia’s claims don’t bother Guy,” said a pal of the couple.

English rock guitarist Ronnie Wood raced home on July 15 to try and save his marriage after rumours of him having an affair with a 20-year-old Russian cocktail waitress surfaced.

Wood, 61, first had a heart-to-heart talk with his son Jesse, 30, after which he is said to have caught a plane out of Ireland.

The Rolling Stones member just cannot believe that after 23 years together, his wife Jo, 53, is kicking him out.

He has hurried over to plead with her to take him back after he launched a booze bender with cocktail waitress Ekaterina Ivanova at his retreat in Co Kildare.

Ivanova, who revealed to her pals that she is in love with the rocker, has not been seen since. “Jesse is at his side and he’s going to make sure his dad is OK,” the Sun quoted a pal as saying.

“He is a confidant and friend and just wants his dad well,” the pal added.

Wood’s had met Ivanova in a London escort club and he had moved her into his house a few weeks back.

Madonna went under the knife in a bid to maintain her youthful appearance, says her brother Christopher Ciccone.

Christopher, who has written a book entitled ‘Life With My Sister Madonna’, alleges that the singer, who turns 50 in August, had a facelift.

When asked if he still recognised Madonna from the girl he grew up with, Christopher replied: “Not after the facelift.”

“I do recognise her in some ways, but I think ultimately she is a lonely person. It is truly lonely at the top,” China Daily quoted him, as telling US TV show ‘Good Morning America’.

Christopher recalled the moment his relationship with Madonna started to deteriorate, during the filming of her 1991 documentary ‘Truth Or Dare’.

He said: “When she was rolling around on my mother’s grave in ‘Truth or Dare’ that was a turning point for me. I kept it inside but I thought, ‘OK, there are no boundaries here. My mother has now become a bit player in her life story’, that hurt me, my relationship with her changed.”

Christopher says despite his revelations about the singer, he is hopeful they will mend their relationship in the future, so he can get to know his extended family. (ANI)

Executives at Vivid Video are more than happy to announce that rock icon Jimi Hendrix’s heirs have failed to disprove the authenticity of his sex tapes.

The company had made a 100,000-dollar “good faith offer” to Experience Hendrix, LLC if it could establish within 60 days that the film is bogus.

The executives at Vivid said that they were confident about the authenticity of the film. “We always knew it was real and were confident that the Hendrix heirs would be unable to substantiate their claims,” British tabloid The Sun quoted Steven Hirsch, Vivid co-chairman, as saying.

The film is said to feature Hendrix getting it on with uber-groupies Pamela Des Barres and Cynthia Albritton.

Coincidentally, Albritton will be taking a cut of profits from the 39.99dollar video. Yet strangely, she did not say that she remembered making the tape.

Catherine Tate has broken her silence on expensive ’stunt casting’ and exclusive prices in the theatrical society.

While Leonardo DiCaprio talks about importance of saving the planet, it turns out that he himself isn’t so vigilant when it comes to making sure his own pitches reach the public.

In March, the actor hated unsolicited, paper-wasting pitches showing up in his mailbox so much that he and fellow environmentalist Adrian Grenier joined a movement to establish a national ‘Do Not Mail Registry.’

Spearheaded by environmental group ForestEthics, the campaign urges Americans to sign a petition demanding the government make it possible for citizens to ban junk mail.

However, this week, freelance writer Philip Recchia received in the mail a big envelope with DiCaprio’s name on the return address space, soliciting donations for the Natural Resource Defense Council’s ‘Polar Bear S.O.S.’ campaign.

The envelope had a one-page pitch letter from the actor and a two-page pitch letter from NRDC president Frances Beinecke; a flyer for a free ‘Save the Polar Bear!’ tote bag; a donation form/petition to the secretary of the interior, urging him to protect the polar bear as an endangered species; and a return envelope.

“I wonder if Leo knows he’s part of the paper problem. He was among the ‘green’ celebs criticized last year for flying around in private jets,” the New York Post quoted Recchia, as saying.

However, DiCaprio’s flack, Ken Sunshine, who also reps the NRDC, makes no apologies, insisting that the star’s ‘environmental commitment is unending.’ (ANI)

The incident had affected the 19-year-old High School Musical star more than she cared to show, making people believe that she could not care less about it.

“For me, it was really tough because I’m a private person and for something like that to happen, it’s so mean,” she said.

As of now, she is just grateful that the incident is behind her, even though it was the most harrowing experience she ever went through.

“The experience was horrible … it sucked. But thankfully it’s over and it’s in the past,” she stated.

“My fans were amazing because they have stood by my side. They really are my core group.

“My family’s always there for me. I just surround myself with good people and try to think of good things,” she said.

In February, Hudgens, who just dropped her new disc Identified, said she was upfront with her mom about the shots. “I was just open with her, and she was just so cute,” Hudgens told Seventeen.

“She was like, ‘Well, everyone can be naked if they want to.’ My parents are very supportive of me. And they know I’m a teenager, and yes, kids do stupid things sometimes. “Nothing is private,” she told the magazine.

Barbadian singer-model Rihanna says that she will never pose naked for Playboy – because she fears her mother will kill her if she did so.

The ‘Umbrella’ singer said that she was not shy about stripping off for work, but still she would never want to do a photo shoot in the buff. “I am only 20 so my mother would kill me if I posed nude!,” British tabloid The Sun quoted her as saying.

The star also said she did the metallic body paint stuff for her video, and not to show her body. “I didn’t do it for people to like me. I did it because it was a cool visual, unexpected, and it looked hot,” she said.

“I have done a lot of photo shoots for magazines but it’s always great to be shot for a cover because you know that you are looked at as a fashion icon,” she added. (ANI)
