Showgirl and men’s magazine model Raffella Fico, 20, told an Italian magazine that she would use the cash to buy a house in Rome and pay for acting classes.

“I can’t wait to see who’s going to pull out the money to have me,” the Telegraph quoted her, as telling the magazine.

“I don’t know what it’s like to have sex,” she told the magazine, Chi, adding that if the man who bought her virginity was ugly then she would quickly get over it.

“If I don’t like him I’ll just have a glass of wine and forget about it,” she added.

The aspiring actress, who appeared in the Italian version of Big Brother earlier this year, is from Naples – hometown of screen siren Sophia Loren.

Fico’s family insisted that despite her good looks and sexy image, she remained a virgin.

“She’s never had a boyfriend. I swear on my mother’s grave. She’s a devout Catholic and prays to Padre Pio every night,” her brother told the magazine. (ANI)

Timberlake, who believes that he and his William Rast fashion line partner and childhood friend Trace Ayala are the trendsetters for the caps, disagreed with Kutcher’s claim of introducing the caps.

“It’s funny,” E!online quoted Timberlake as saying in the new issue of Fashion Rocks magazine.

“I keep hearing Ashton Kutcher say how he was responsible for trucker caps. I’ve heard him make that statement before.

“Trace and I were wearing them when we were seventeen,” he said.

Timberlake is well on his way to becoming a fashion icon, from gracing the cover of Fashion Rocks to becoming the new face for Givenchy’s men’s fragrance, Play!

The SexyBack singer will also be starring in William Rast’s upcoming fall ad campaign.

However being suave wasn’t always how things used to be, with Timberlake remembering the time he spray-painted vintage Air Jordans and shaved images of beehives into Ayala’s hair.

“We just kind of didn’t care,” Timberlake remembers of his fashion faux pas.

“We kind of still don’t,” he added.

According to reports last month, the two times Oscar winning actor has been engrossed in money battle with Storey Construction, which built his home in 2002, for the past six years.

Now, Miles Stanislaw, the lawyer for contractor Gary Storey, who has the right to inspect the site to gather evidence for his defence, has said that his workers are horrified because Hanks has a guy with a semi-automatic and two clips of ammo eyeballing them.

“It’s as hazardous a condition as you can have. The other day, the guard tripped and fell on a piece of plywood with his gun on him. It could have gone off and had fatal consequences. It is inconceivable a person like Tom Hanks, who claims to be the voice of the little people, could tolerate this,” The New York Post has quoted the lawyer, as saying.

In response, Hanks’ rep, Leslee Dart, said: “One security guard had to be hired after Storey tried to force his way onto the Hanks’ property at 7 a.m., unannounced, with five pickup trucks full of his cronies. The one guard that was hired is an off-duty police officer who, by Idaho law, is allowed to carry a gun.” Stanislaw called Dart’s dawn raid allegation “a total fabrication.”

Meanwhile, the security guard himself, Shane Gilbert, said: “I’m very well-trained and capable. Security guards don’t pack heat just to go around shooting people.” But he added he thinks the ongoing Hanks-Storey war is “a ridiculous battle. It’s a big pissing match.” (ANI)

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said that LaBeouf was allegedly making a left turn when his Ford F-150 pickup struck another car and rolled over twice.

“It was immediately apparent to officers responding on the scene that LaBeouf was intoxicated and he was subsequently placed under arrest,” E!Online quoted LA County Sheriff’s Sgt. S. Wolf, as saying.

The actor was booked for a misdemeanour DUI and released.

He was treated at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for injuries he sustained to his head, left hand and knee.

The passenger riding with LaBeouf and the driver of the other car involved in the crash weren’t seriously hurt.

A rep for the actor had no comment initially but later released the following statement: “Attorneys for Mr. LaBeouf confirm that an automobile accident involving an additional party occurred early morning in Los Angeles on July 27, 2008. Shia is currently recovering from extensive hand surgery with plans to return to work on the set of Transformers 2 within one month. No further comment will be issued at this time.” (ANI)

Speaking on what this film is about, Verma said, “The film explores the psychological state of a man who does not believe in black magic and it is not so much about the black magic as about that psychological state.”

Verma further said, “I have put an ordinary family in extraordinary situation, the audiences should identify themselves with ‘this family’. This family can be their family (Audience’s family), their neighbours family. I wanted the family to be as natural as possible. There are no commercial items in this film, it is about black magic it is about fear.”

The film ‘Phoonk’ is slated for an August 22 release. (ANI)

The source added that their children – Lourdes, 11, Rocco, eight next month, and adopted David, two – are the most important things to the couple.

The union survey, which took in the views of more than 2800 Australian workers, found more than half reported that they often had too much work for one person to manage.

A third said their supervisors expected them to put work ahead of personal life, and 75 per cent said they would be happy to take a pay cut to work fewer hours.

The study was funded by the Australian Research Council and the South Australian, WA and Victorian Governments.

ACTU President Sharan Burrow said the study confirmed a worrying rise in “work intensification” – the feeling that work was becoming harder and less compatible with everyday life.

“The feeling of being stressed from managing long hours of work and the intensification of work, and balancing home and community life, is increasing,” the Australian quoted Burrow, as saying.

“The figures show overwhelmingly that people want to work less but are unable through either their capacity to meet bills – price pressures – or indeed the choices available at work,” she added.

The survey found women ideally wanted to work 35 hours a week, which is three hours short of the norm.

It also found men preferred to work 38 hours a week, but almost one in three were working 48 hours or more.

The deterioration of the work-life balance was more pronounced at the bottom and top of the pay scale with those earning less than 30,000 Australian dollars a year or more than 90,000 Australian dollars complaining of feeling more work-related pressures.

The survey was conducted during March and April.

Burrow also said that while many people wanted to work less, the rising cost of living meant this often was impossible.

“There’s no doubt that both partners in family households are working longer hours, feeling stressed that they have got more cost pressures, but also that they have less time,” she said.

“Working people are working more and longer hours, and it is eating their lives in terms of a work-family or work-life balance,” she added. (ANI)

Apparently the producers of the TV industry’s big awards night are zeroing upon the idea of having at least a 5 candidates from Reality Shows hosting the big night – in order to cut the workload.

According to the grapevine, ‘American Idol’ ringmaster Ryan Seacrest would host the night consecutively for the second time and will be joined by Heidi Klum from ‘Project Runway’, Howie Mandel from ‘Deal or No Deal’, c from ‘Dancing With the Stars’ and longtime ‘Survivor’ overlord c.

An Emmy representative chose not to comment on the plans, reports E!Online.

However this would not be the first time that the Emmys would have multiple hosts, as in 2003 the Emmys had 11 comedians hosting the night. (ANI)

Vendors say the fish can live up to three months in the sealed containers, which contain water, fish food and two solid oxygen balls.

After three months the fish can be released in ponds or tanks by breaking open the pendants, reports the Daily Telegraph.

The ornaments, which cost less than 50cents each, are popular as necklaces or bag decorations. But an expert at the Sichuan Provincial Marine Life Research Center says the practice is cruel and should be banned. (ANI)

The research, conducted by University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) scientists, shows that whether a child has been read aloud to on a regular basis is the single biggest predictor of a child’s success in learning to read.

“Reading aloud to children helps them develop oral language. It teaches them how to listen and how narrative is structured. They also learn vocabulary and how print works and that it is read from left to right,” says UAB Associate Professor of education Kathleen Martin, Ph.D.

Martin and UAB Assistant Professor Kay Emfinger, Ph.D., are authors of the new book “Sharing Books Together: Promoting Emergent Literacy Through Reading Aloud and Home-School Partnerships.”

Children who are not read aloud to often enter kindergarten and first grade lacking these skills, which Martin says are important for learning how to read, Martin said.

“A lot of parents know that reading aloud to their children is important,” says Martin, “but often they don’t realize that it continues to be of value as the child ages. Also, many parents probably have less time to read aloud to their children these days.

“It is never too early to begin reading aloud to children,” Martin said. Even infants can enjoy looking at illustrations in a book as their parents read to them. When children are past kindergarten, they still need to be read aloud to in order to learn about more complicated subjects and how to listen to and comprehend more sophisticated text,” Martin said.

It’s important for parents to be animated when they are reading to children, says Martin.

Using different voices for the various characters in a story makes the experience more fun for young children.

However, parents should never force children to listen to a text if the child is bored by the material. Reading should always be presented as a fun activity, Martin said. (ANI)

The survey by dating website benaughty.com revealed that a whopping 1.7 million guys in Britain stretch the truth to get the girls.

While almost a four million lie about how many people they have slept with, a big 2.5 million love rats usually hide the facts to cover up their cheating.

The survey even found that men were also three times more likely to lie about their vital statistics, what with sly seven percent exaggerating the size of their lunchbox.

On the other, women were found not to be so much in love with lying to impress men, with only two percent shamming about their breast size.

The survey also revealed that 25 percent more men than women wanted to keep the truth of their fidelity under wraps, while three percent more bragged about their sexual history.

But, the lies were not limited to the bedroom, for over one fourth of men reported lying about their drinking, smoking and debts, while 16 percent about their age.

“Men are more likely to brag about their previous sexual experiences to add to their ‘bad-boy’ image and increase their appeal to women,” The Daily Star quoted Max Polyakov, from the website, as saying.

He added: “However, the qualities that women look for in men are constantly changing, so it’s a good idea to be honest.” (ANI)

The top-10 list of takeaway meals based on the number of aphrodisiac ingredients per meal was compiled by takeaway company Just-Eat.

Hot and spicy pizza topped with tomatoes, onions, garlic, basil, olives, meatballs and chillis grabbed the second position, according to research for takeaway website Just-Eat.co.uk.

Chicken Korma comes in at No 3, thanks to its potent blend of coconut, garlic, chilli, ginger and almonds – all said to improve sex drive in females.

Seafood Laksa is fourth because of its coconut milk, ginger, garlic, basil and onions.

“Thai green curry has long been known in the East to boost sex drive,” The Sun quoted Just-Eat’s Ash Ali, as saying.

“The British public instead only tend to know more expensive aphrodisiacs such as oysters and caviar,” Ali added.

Other foods sure to steam up more than just the kitchen are meatballs and pasta, king prawns with ginger, sushi and even chicken tikka masala, say the experts.

As per reports, Peaches ceased to breathe for several minutes and would have died or suffered brain damage had her friend not given her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and chest compressions to keep oxygen pumping to her brain.

When the emergency crew finally got to her flat on July 20 afternoon, they found the 19-year-old unconscious.

The part-time TV presenter was successfully revived at her flat in trendy Camden, North London, though she was very terrified and began sobbing hysterically.

She then refused to be admitted to the hospital for fear her rock legend dad, organiser of the Live Aid charity concerts, would find out.

Sir Bob Geldof, 56, had in the past said that he would go “ballistic” if Peaches ever turned to drugs.

“Peaches could not breathe for several minutes after suffering a respiratory arrest. Her friend had to give chest pumps and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.

“If she had not received this she could have died or she could have suffered brain damage. Peaches had gone into respiratory arrest, in which a patient’s breathing stops but the heart doesn’t.

“It was extremely serious and there is no doubt her friend saved her life,” the source said.

“No one could believe this has happened to Sir Bob Geldof’s daughter, particularly considering what happened to her mother,” another source added.

Amazingly when she regained consciousness, Peaches shouted at the paramedics who helped her.

The source added: “When she came too she started mouthing off and told the ambulance crew, ‘You have to respect my privacy’. She then told them to get out.

“And she refused to go hospital to have further treatment because she was worried about it getting out.”

London Ambulance confirmed its crews attended the scene.

A spokeswoman said: “We were called shortly before 4:45pm yesterday (Sunday) to an address in London N1, to reports of a female patient taken ill.

“We sent an ambulance, a bicycle responder and a fast response car to the scene.

“Following assessment, the patient did not need hospital treatment.” (ANI)

Writing in the Journal of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Education, Marvin Druger of Syracuse University said that he never paid much attention to inappropriate student behavior in his class, assuming that most students were paying attention and taking notes.

One day, after lecture, a disgruntled young man approached him and complained about other students talking in class. This comment made Druger aware that there was a problem that required his attention.

“After observation, I learned that text messaging, talking on cells phones and with other students, drawing pictures in notebooks, doing other homework, reading a book, and sleeping were all occurring during my lecture,” said Druger.

Druger decided to send an email message to the students about misbehavior to all the students in the course.

He made the students aware that he had complaints from students who are distracted by these inappropriate behaviors.

Part of the email message read, “If you are one of the few disruptive students that I’m talking about, please think about your behavior and modify it. I’m trying to enrich your life, and it’s frustrating to see that a few students in the class seem not to care.”

The week after sending the email to all the students in the large class, the results were very gratifying.

“Students had stopped being disruptive and were attentively listening to the lecture and taking notes,” said Druger.

It seems that an effective way to handle student misbehavior in a lecture class is to simply be very direct with the students, the expert said.

Once students think about their behavior and realize that it is inappropriate, they will likely cooperate. It is a matter of reaching into the adult component of the student’s mind, he added. (ANI)

Having a normal life for her means being able to do all the things that a normal teenager would do, and she fantasises about how great High School must be, but her friends tell her a different story.

“They say, ‘It’s not all happy and smiley. It’s probably much harder than your job, Miley’,” she said.

But being a star does not mean that she has stopped being a human being, insists her Hannah Montana co-star, Jason Earles, who defended her Vanity Fair pics.

Speaking to People magazine last week, he said Cyrus was still young and didn’t always make “the best decisions” regarding her personal life.

“If people saw the amount of positive things that she does, they would see how silly the picture ’scandals’ really are,” he said.

“Parents still have the responsibility to tell their kids what’s right and what’s wrong. Miley is not going to raise your kids for you,” he added. (ANI)

The ‘A Time To Kill’ star has even signed a reggae singer for the company’s debut album, say sources.

“His first artist is a reggae guy called Mishka. The album will be called ‘Above the Bones’ and the first single is ‘Here Comes Da Train.’ He’s also doing the soundtrack for ‘Surfer Dude,’” the New York Post quoted a source as saying.

McConaughey is also said to be approaching other major music labels for backing. “He’s looking for a distribution deal with all the major labels for his own label,” said the source.

A spokesman for McConaughey has confirmed that the star has set up his own record label. The company, however, has not set any date for its debut release as yet, he says. (ANI)

A systematic review of 17 studies involving nearly 6,300 participants showed that despite incentives ranging from lottery tickets to cash payments, quit smoking contests did not help people to kick the habit.

In one study, participants were encouraged to toss their cigarettes down the toilet and rewarded with one lottery ticket per day. Another offered payments of 10 dollars per month and participation in a monthly worksite lottery.

Yet another offered cash prizes ranging from 100 dollars to 250 dollars, along with certificates of recognition.

“In my view, none of them was effective,” said review co-author Kate Cahill at the University of Oxford.

“One of our main conclusions was that if incentives work at all, they only work while they’re in place; if you revisit those quitters 12 or 24 months down the line, they [smokers offered incentives] were generally no more successful” than counterparts not offered incentives,” she added.

One-year cessation rates for participants in one study were 22 percent – more than double that of those not offered incentives.

However, by the one-year evaluation, the quit rate for participants was much closer to that of non-participants.

In addition, the difference between participants and the group not offered incentives “had become non-significant at the two-year follow up,” the reviewers found.

“An effective incentive should be large enough to attract smokers motivated to try and quit, but not so attractive that the desire to win outweighs the seriousness of the quit attempt,” said the reviewers.

Michael Fiore, director of the University of Wisconsin Center for Tobacco Research and Interventions said that the cessation contests in the review clearly did not offer a big bang for the buck.

However, he added, “Maybe some of these programs have collateral benefit, in that they encourage people – who may not have thought about quitting – to quit.”

The review appears in the latest issue of The Cochrane Library, a publication of The Cochrane Collaboration. (ANI)

Health experts have issued the warnings in a bid to halt the spread of sex infections. According to last year’s reports, cases of chlamydia rose six per cent.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) called for under 25s to be screened for it when they change lovers.

It also urged everyone to use a condom with a new partner until they have both been screened. And it wants all gay men to take an annual HIV test.

“It’s increasingly the case that among young people casual sex is part of life,” The Sun quoted Professor Peter Borriello, of the HPA, as saying.

“A shift in behaviour is the only way to bring down these infections,” he added. (ANI)

I conceptualized this film from a common man’s point of view and at this point I thought that I could make a film on fashion.”

Madhur is very upbeat about his upcoming film, which he says will give an insight into fashion world to a common man.

“The title of the film ‘Fashion’ is self-explanatory. It essays the story of the fashion world, how the models enter into the fashion world, how they walk the ramp. The title of my film explains the story of the film as you have seen in my earlier films like Traffic Signal, Corporate, Page-3 and Satta. I don’t think such a film was ever made in Hindi film scenario. It is also the story of the characters of the fashion world and the one’s associated with it,” said Madhur.

Bollywood’s actress Priyanka Chopra whose last film ‘Love Story-2050′ could not set the silver screen on fire was excited on being part of Madhur Bhandarkar’s film.

“I play the character of Megha Mathur in this film. She comes from a small town of Chandigarh to Mumbai to become a supermodel. It (the film) is about her rise and fall, it’s basically a very emotional journey of this girl,” said Priyanka.

In an age when we are able to idly text “Wsh u wr hr!” to friends and family from far-flung beaches, the UK’s holidaymakers are staying faithful to the humble postcard.

The driving forces behind the rise are the holidaymakers who are returning to sending traditional messages.

According to the Royal Mail, 135 million post cards were delivered last year, an increase of 30 million compared to 2003.

Brian Lund, editor of Picture Postcard Monthly, a magazine for collectors, said that he was thrilled and hoped to see a return to the glory days of the picture postcard in post-war Britain.

“We’ve noticed a stark increase in the number of postcards being sent over the last few years. Emails and texts have been found out. You can’t hang a text message on your wall, can you? People have realised once again that a postcard is a lovely thing. If you write one, it shows you care in a way that a text message never can,” the Telegraph quoted him as saying.

Museums and other attractions have started to sell postcards in far greater numbers, according to a spokesman at the Royal Mail, explaining why so many more cards were being sent.

“Also, many pubs and clubs have started to stock free post cards – promoting a new product or film. You can find a post card to send almost anywhere,” he added.

The increasing number of foreign holidays and short breaks has also helped to spark the renaissance of the humble six- by four-inch card. (ANI)

The new flavour named the ‘Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road’ has been created to mark Elton’s first ever concert in Vermont, scheduled to take place on July 21.

It has been described as “an outrageous symphony of decadent chocolate ice cream, peanut butter cookie dough, butter brickle and white chocolate chunks.”

John, 61, will have been to all 50 United States when he plays there on Monday, and the proceeds will go to his Aids Foundation.

“I can’t think of a more fun way to celebrate my visit,” British tabloid The Sun quoted him as saying.

But the flavour is a limited edition only, and will only be sold in the state from 18-25 July. (08).
