Tenors join hands to honour Pavarotti at Petra

Singers including Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo got back together to commemorate the life of late tenor Luciano Pavarotti at a special tribute concert.

The duo, who sang as ‘The Three Tenors’ with Pavarotti, reunited for the first time since the Italian’s death last year.

The concert was held at the site of ancient Treasury at Petra, Jordon.

The event coincided with what would have been Pavarotti’s 73rd birthday.

The late musician is said to have always wanted to perform there.

Many other musicians, including Sting, made the trek through the mountains to the site of the ancient Treasury to join hands and honour Pavarotti.

“Luciano was a big man, he had a big heart and that generosity was transformed in his voice, and when we heard his voice all of us were richer,” the BBC quoted Sting as saying.

Guests at the three-day commemoration included the singer’s widow Nicoletta Mantovani, their five-year-old daughter Alice, ‘U2′ frontman Bono, and Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli. (ANI)
